Stampin' Up!© You're A Peach

Welcome!  I'm sharing cards made using one of the Designer Series Paper packs that is currently on sale.  Save 15%!  But shop soon.  Sale ends August 2!  Click HERE to see the selection from You're A Peach DSP.

You're a Peach DSP is such pretty paper.  Have you ever had to make a difficult choice about which side of the beautiful double-sided DSPs to feature on your cards?  Today I will show you a way to solve that problem!  These cards will show off BOTH sides of the DSP.  No need to make a choice.  I want to thank fellow SU Demonstrator Jessica Taylor for this idea.

Let's get started.

In addition to using the You're A Peach DSP, I'm using the Sweet As A Peach stamp set.

Card base:  Calypso Coral, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4".  NOW, cut off 3 1/4" from one side.  This leaves you a card base with a 1" card front at this point.  We'll glue some DSP to this flap to finish constructing the front.

But first, if you want, as I did, emboss this 1" flap.  I placed just the flap into an Embossing Folder, then ran it through the Cut & Emboss Machine. (I used an EF from last year's Holiday Mini, called Wrapping in Texture Embossing Folder, but any pattern of your choice will work)

Now to add the DSP.   Cut the Designer Paper 4" x 5 1/2" piece.

Now you have these 2 components:

Next, apply glue or Stampin' Seal to the inside edge of the 1" flap and to the left edge front of the DSP - see the white strips in the photo below to help with placement of the adhesive.

White strips in the photo represent where to apply glue/adhesive.  Note the DSP is lined up with the right-hand edge of the Calypso card stock, "away" from the fold.

Line up the card base and DSP, right-hand edges and top & bottom of card base ("inside"); fold the flap over and adhere the flap edge to the DSP left edge.  Now you have a card front of DSP, with an edge of the Calypso Coral card stock.  When you open the card, inside, you see the other side of the pretty DSP.

DSP glued to the 1" card stock flap, creating the full card front.

Inside, showing other side of the DSP that's glued to the card stock flap.

The card front can be decorated for any occasion.  In this example I made a birthday card.

Sentiment:  stamp the Happy Birthday with Calypso ink onto Basic White CS; stamp a blossom in Pale Papaya with a Calypso Coral center; trim piece; adhere to card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

For the inside greeting:

  • Basic White CS:  4" x 5 1/4".
  • The peach image is made by using 2 colors of ink, giving it some variation in color.  Here's how:  Ink up the peach image stamp with Pale Papaya ink.  Then, using a Sponge Dauber (or piece of sponge), dab on some Calypso Coral directly onto the stamp.  Now stamp it down onto the white CS.  Stamp the leaves in Old Olive ink.   Stamp the greeting in Calypso Coral.
  • Glue the panel to the card base.

Ready to see another card?

The 2nd card uses some of the blue background DSP.  Construction will be the same as the first card.  For the embossed front flap, this time I used the polka dot emboss folder from Checks & Dots Embossing Folder (in the current Annual Catalog).  I thought this went well with the DSP "flip side" that is a pattern of dots!

Card Base:  Balmy Blue card stock, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4"; cut off 3 1/4" from one side, leaving a 1" flap.

Emboss the 1" flap, next, if you so desire:  place just the 1" inside your favorite pattern Emboss Folder, such as Checks & Dots.  Run it through the Cut & Emboss Machine.

Cut DSP 4" x 5 1/2".
Here are your two components:

Place glue or Stampin' Seal (or Snail Adhesive - your choice) on inside edge of flap, and on the left-side edge of DSP, as in the first card.

Line up DSP to the right edge of card base (away from the fold/crease), fold the flap down over the left edge of DSP.
Front of card

Inside, showing the other side of the DSP.

Front sentiment:  stamp the sentiment in Calypso Coral ink onto white card stock; stamp flowers in Pale Papaya, flower centers with Calypso.  Trim one end as a banner/flag.  Adhere with glue or dimensionals.

Inside greeting - as before, start with a piece of Basic White CS 4" x 5 1/4".
Stamp the peach image with Pale Papaya with dabs of Calypso ink.  Leaves in Old Olive (or Pear Pizzazz dabbed with olive ink).
Stamp the sentiment (it's actually 2 separate stamps from the Sweet As A Peach set) in Calypso Coral.
Adhere to card base.

One more to show you another option for decorating the front 1" flap, instead of embossing.  On this one I used some olive green thread/twine, wrapped around 3 times, and tied with a little bow.

Inside, another version, also:
