Stampin' Up!© Valentine with Lots of Heart

Hello, and welcome to my blog!  I have a Valentine to share today.  I hope you will love it as much as I loved making it.  It's a very traditional looking Valentine - lots of hearts - lots of red, pink & white.  I have to admit I'm partial to all the reds, pinks, hearts & flowers and the scalloped-edged heart.  What about you?

What made this especially fun to make was the background piece, stamped with rows - or I should say, columns - of hearts, alternating red & pink hearts, as well as alternating the direction of the red & pink rows.  Was it hard to stamp this?  Not when you have a wonderful tool called the Stamparatus!  To shop all the products used, see the list HERE.

The column of hearts is a single photopolymer stamp in the Lots of Heart stamp set.  This is how I got the look:

Starting with a piece of Basic White CS, cut 4 7/8"x 3 1/2", I placed it into the Stamparatus base.  I positioned the stamp, then closed the Stamparatus & picked up the stamp - it will adhere itself to the inside, top plate of the Stamparatus.  I inked the stamp with Real Red Ink, then closed the Stamparatus down onto the paper & stamped the image.  Keeping the card stock in the same place throughout the stamping process, I continued to stamp all the rows.   I moved the Stamparatus plate down to the next notch (it snaps out, then snaps back in, allowing repositioning of the stamp, without taking the stamp off the plate); I inked the stamp again,  & stamped the next row of red hearts.  I continued inking, stamping, and moving the plated until all rows of red hearts were done.   Then I cleaned the stamp, repositioned it onto the card, reversing the image to have the hearts going in the opposite direction.  I used Flirty Flamengo ink, and proceeded as I had with the red hearts.

The other elements on the card were made like this:

  • Using Real Red ink, I stamped the checked heart from Lots of Heart stamp set onto white card stock.  I used the Many Hearts Dies to cut it out.
  • I used the same set of dies to cut out the scalloped heart from Flirty Flamengo card stock .
  • I stamped the trio-floral image four times in Memento Tuxedo black ink onto white CS, and also die cut them.  Using Stampin' Blends (Real Red & Flirty Flamengo), I colored two sets in red flowers with pink leaves, and the other 2 sets just the reverse: pink flowers with red leaves.
  • Using another set of dies, the Always Dies, I cut out "Love" from white card stock, and the background for LOVE from Real Red CS.

Then I assembled the card:

  • Card base:  Real Red CS, 11" x 4 1/4", fold at 5 1/2".
  • Layer of Flirty Flamengo CS, 5" x 3 7/8".  Glue this layer to the card base.
  • Glue the piece with all the columns of hearts on top of the card front.
  • Assemble the larger hearts & the "Love" cut-out:
    • Glue the checked heart to the Flirty Flamengo heart.
    • Glue the white "Love" to the red Love background.  Then glue this to the top of the checked heart.
  • Glue this focal piece, the hearts + Love onto the card front.
  • Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the 4 floral pieces to each corner, having the ones with red flowers in diagonal corners, and the one with pink flowers in the other diagonal corners (see picture).

Inside the card:  Use a piece of white CS, 4 3/4" x 3 3/4".  Use red ink:  Stamp one column of hearts in red; stamp 2 of the floral images; stamp the sentiment from Lots of Heart stamp set.
