Hello! Welcome to my blog.
This week we saw the launch of the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog. Exciting! If you'd like a copy, email me your name & mailing address (USA) and I'll get one off to you. You can view it right now, as a flip-page, by clicking the image in the right-hand panel.
Yes, we have the new AC. But let's not forget, the 2022 Jan-June Mini Catalog is still available. Today I'm using 2 stamp sets from that Catalog. (BTW, the Hello Beautiful set DID make it into the new Annual Catalog.) The card is inspired by Susan Wong of the Crafty Carrot Co.
The Hello Beautiful stamp set has some images that, at first, I wasn't sure how to use. But after seeing projects by Susan, I can imagine so many possibilities. Let me give you all the details for making this card. I hope you'll be inspired by it, to come up with your own version.
CARD DETAILS
- Card base: Smoky Slate card stock, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", score & fold at 4 1/4".
- Layer: Basic White CS, 5" x 3 3/4".
- Scrap of basic white for the plant, pot and sentiments.
- Ink colors: Parakeet Party, Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen, Garden Green, Basic Gray, Memento black.
- A Stampin' Blend in one of the greens - use this to "speckle" the background.
Steps to create the card
Card base: stamp the image of "little bumps" (not sure what else to call this image) found in the Hello Beautiful stamp set, using Basic Gray ink onto the Smoky Slate card base. I stamped the image repeatedly into 2 opposite corners. Set aside.
Layered piece:
- Stamp various greens using images from Hello Beautiful, slightly overlapping the images. I used two of the images from the set. The result might look to you like a stack of stones. From the bottom up, I started with full-strength Parakeet Party. Next I stamped full-strength Soft Succulent. Then Evening Evergreen, which I stamped-off once. Finally, Parakette again, this time stamped-off once.
- Using the brush tip of a Stampin' Blend pen in a shade of darker green (I used Dark Shaded Spruce), flick the brush end on the edge of the cap to create some "sprinkles" or flecks of color over the card front.
On scraps of basic white CS stamp the sentiment from Hello Beautiful set in Memento black ink. Trim to approximately 1 3/4" x 3/4" or any size that pleases you.
On another scrap of basic white CS, stamp the plant & the pot from Cactus Cuties stamp set. I used Garden Green ink for the plant, Basic Gray for the pot. Cut these images out.
Cut a small strip of DSP from Abstract Beauty Specialty DSP. (This DSP is part of the Suite that also contains the Hello Beautiful stamp set. Found in the JJ Mini Catalog.) I cut it 2" x 1/2".
Glue the sentiment piece to this strip of DSP.
Assemble:
- Glue the layer with the stamped images to the card base.
- Using Stampin' Dimensionals, adhere the plant & the pot.
- Use gray twine/trim to tie a double bow; adhere with a mini glue dot or a small amount of other adhesive to the card front.
- Using Dimensionals, adhere the sentiment piece over the bow.
- Add some Classic Matte Dots or other embellishment you like, around the card front.
- In Color Grid Paper
- In Color Ink Pad Collection (all 5 In Color ink pads!)
- In Color Cardstock Assortment Collection
- In Color 6" x 6" (15.2 x 15.2 cm) Designer Series Paper Assortments.
