Hello! Welcome to this month's Butterfly Blog Hop!
We have another month of the beautiful Butterfly Bouquet suit of stamps and dies to showcase in our Blog Hop. We are a group of Stampin' Up!© Demonstrators from around the world showing off cards/projects made using the new Butterfly Bouquet products. Scroll down to see the links to all Blog participants - you'll want to visit each one to see the beautiful butterfly creations. The theme is Thank You, Congratulations, Encouragement.
For the theme "Thank You," I created a soft, blended background as my own designer series paper.
Here is how I did the background:
- I started with Basic White CS, 3 1/4" x 4 1/2" and 3 colors of pink ink: Petal Pink, Blushing Bride, and Magenta Madness. Starting with the lightest, I used the Blending Brushes to add the colors in different areas of the white CS, also leaving some bits of the white showing through. I concentrated the brightest, Magenta Madness, in one corner.
- Next, I used the Butterfly Brilliance stamp, inked it up with Smoky Slate, stamped it off twice, then applied it to the background of blended pinks. I wanted to capture mainly the smaller images, so I stamped in a way to do that, stamping approximated a third of the CS and turning it and stamping it again.
- This background piece was then glued to a panel of Basic Black CS, 3 3/8" x 4 5/8". This all was then glued to the Magenta Madness card base, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", folded at 4 1/4".
- I used the Butterfly Brilliance stamp set to stamp just a couple of the butterflies using Magenta Madness ink onto Blushing Bride CS, and die cut these out using the Brilliant Wings large die. (I used the larger of the two as focal on the card front, the smaller went inside the card.)
- I die cut the corresponding detailed butterfly in basic black CS, and glued the two together.
- Using the Layering Circles Dies, I cut 2 scalloped circles, one black and one magenta, then glued them together.
- To tone the circles down a bit, making them softer looking to go with the background, I punched a 2" circle out of vellum. I glued just the center of the vellum circle atop the other circles, knowing the butterfly would cover the glue.
- I adhered the butterfly using Stampin' Dimensionals.
- The sentiment is from Happy Thoughts stamp set, stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto white CS and cut with a flag at one end. I glued the sentiment piece, then the butterfly-circles piece.
I found it fun and easy to create my own DSP, using the blending brushes and 3 different colors until I got the soft mottled look I wanted. Then, by stamping off the background butterfly images 2 times before stamping the card stock, the images stayed in the background & didn't compete with my bolder, focal point.
Thanks for taking a look at my card, today. It's time to continue on to the next blog in our Butterfly Blog Hop...you are going to see some very creative projects!
Stay safe, be well, take care....Julie 💖
