Stampin' Up! © Dragonfly Garden Thank You

Hello there!  Welcome back to my blog.

I was going through my crafting products today, and I realized I hadn't used the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder in quite some time.  So today is the day!  Ever so often I forget to use some of my older favorites.  Does that ever happen to you?

The card that I created is a soft, almost mono-toned creation.  I brought in a little "sparkle" with some foil card stock and one pretty pearl embellishment.  I'll list all products I used near the end of this blog, and a link to add them to your cart to purchase.

Here's what I did to make this card.

I embossed Basic White card stock using the Brick & Mortar EF, and the result I saw:  a garden wall.  At least in my mind that's what it was.    The garden wall had flowers growing up against it:  I added the tall flower image from Dragonfly Garden stamp set.

Floral Panel:  I stamped the image using Old Olive ink onto white CS, then colored the flowers with Stampin' Blends (Daffodil for petals, Cinnamon Cider for flower centers).  I very lightly colored the leaves with  Stampin' Write Marker in Sahara Sand, mainly the larger leaves. (You could use Old Olive, instead. Or use watercolor pencils, as another choice.) This panel was backed with a piece of the Sahara Sand Love You Always Foil Sheet (from the Jan-June Mini Catalog), and then glued to the embossed wall.

"Thank You" sentiment:   I used the sentiment stamp from the same Dragonfly Garden set, but only the "thank you" words, not the rest "for your kindness" portion.  You could either mask off the unwanted words with tape, and ink up only what you wanted;  or do as I did:  using the Stampin' Write Marker in Old Olive, color/ink-up only the "thank you" part of the red rubber, and then stamp onto white CS.  Then I die-cut the sentiment piece with the small, narrow Stitched Rectangle die.  I adhered it to the card front, overlapping the floral image, using glue beneath the overlapped end, and using a Stampin' Dimensional beneath the other end.

My card base is Sahara Sand card stock; I glued the wall and flower panel to it.  Lastly I added a Pearl Basic Jewel.

Here are the measurements for you to create your own version:

  • Card base:  Sahara Sand CS, 11" x 4 1/4", fold at 5 1/2".
  • Embossed layer:  4" x 5 1/4".
  • Foil layer:  Love You Always Foil Sheet, Sahara Sand (154286), cut 4 1/4" x 1 3/8".
  • Flower layer:  Basic White CS, 4 1/8" x 1 1/4".
  • Die cut sentiment piece:  white card stock, cut with stitched rectangle die, final size is 2 1/2" x 1/2".
Stamp set used:  Dragonfly Garden.  Multiple ways to purchase the stamps:
  • stamp set, alone 154411
  • as a Bundle with Dragonflies Punch:  Dragonfly Garden Bundle 156224
  • in the Dandy Garden Suite:  155981

Other:
Stitched Rectangles Dies:  151820
Pearl Basic Jewels:  144219
Old Olive Classic Stampin Pad:  147090
Stampin' Blends Combo Pack:  Daffodil Delight, 154883;  Cinnamon Cider, 153105.
Stampin' Write Marker:  Sahara Sand, Old Olive.
NOTE:  Watercolor pencils could also be used to color the leaves; or you can leave them uncolored.  The look I was going for was not to have too many colors, but more mono-chromatic.

There you have it!  What do you think?
I hope you found some inspiration, today.  Maybe it's time to pull out an Embossing Folder or stamp set that you haven't used in a while.
