Stampin' Up!® Rain or Shine Suite

Hi!  Welcome to my blog today.  Here in N. California we have been drenched in rain the past few weeks.  So my thoughts and crafty mind went right to this Suite of new products in the new 2023 January-April Mini Catalog.  View the Catalog in the right panel...just click on the cover image.

After years of draught, we are finally getting some much-needed rain.  It's been tremendously wet!  Back-to-back storms, called "atmospheric rivers", have dropped so much water.  But now & then we've had a break, and I was happy to spend some time outside yesterday in my patio garden, tending to the pretty flowers (cyclamen), ferns, & camellias.  All the plants are happy with this rain.

Once back inside, as the showers started up again, I decided to play with some of the new products I just got from the new Mini Catalog.  Which one should I start with, hmmm....well, you see it!  The Rain or Shine Suite of products.

The Suite consists of these items (get the whole bunch with one item #160556, or pick just the ones you want individually).

  • Playing in the Rain Bundle (stamp set + dies)....#160551  (save 10% getting the Bundle)
    • separately:  stamp set, 160542;  Dies, 160550
  • Raindrops Embossing Folder...160554
  • Loose Daisy Embellishments...160555
  • Rain of Shine 12:x12" DSP...160540

The Playing in the Rain Dies cut some images in the DSP, which is a SU feature that I just love.  I used the rabbit die to do just that, on my card.  There are also other dies that cut from the DSP:  the fox with umbrella, the turtle with umbrella, and the closed umbrella.  You can, of course, also use the stamps to stamp the images, color & then die-cut as you wish.  Lots of versatility to this Suite!

Now, on to the card I have for you today....

CARD DETAILS

  • Card base, Balmy Blue card stock:  11" x 4 1/4", score at 5 1/2"; fold.
  • Layer of Basic Black CS:  5 1/4" x 4"
  • Layer of Rain or Shine Specialty DSP:  choose the raindrops piece (the drops are a shiny, slightly raised texture; love it!!) and cut it 5" x 3 3/4".
  • Rabbits:  I die-cut the brown bunny using the Playing in the Rain Dies.  I hand-cut the yellow bunny, just because I want to include the puddle beneath him.  I also free hand-cut another puddle.  You can choose to die cut both bunnies, or free-hand cut them & the puddles.
  • Sentiment piece:  stamp the sentiment from the Playing in the Rain stamp set using Memento black ink onto balmy blue card stock.  Punch this out using the Cloud Punch (Annual Catalog, item #157749)
  • Assemble:
    • Glue the raindrops DSP to the black CS layer, then glue to the Balmy Blue card base.
    • Glue the yellow rabbit + puddle to card front.
    • Glue the sentiment cloud, and the 2nd puddle.
    • Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the brown rabbit.
    • Add some embellishments; I used some balmy blue adhesive-backed sequins I had in my stash.  You may have something similar.  Or use the Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins (#160387) found in the new Mini....perfect!

There you have it!  This is my first card of the new year to share with you.  I'll have more in the coming days, especially sharing products from the new Mini.
