Who would think I, an avid gardener, would love snails so much!!  If only those in my garden were as cute as the ones in the Snailed It stamp set, right?!

On this card I used a variety of Stampin' Up! products to show how versatile they are.  Click any item number to link to my online store.  Get FREE SHIPPING on orders of $50 and greater.

Supplies for the snail card:

  • Stamp sets:  Snailed It (154472), Oval Occasions (154477)
  • Dies:  Snail Dies (154327), Stitched With Whimsy Dies (155314), Stitched Rectangle Dies (151820), Autumn Essentials Dies (retired).
  • Papers:  Granny Apple Green card stock (146990), Regals 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (153073), Basic White CS (159276), Gold Foil Sheet (132622).
  • Inks:  Garden Green ink pad (147089), Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad (132708), Stampin' Blends (granny apple green (154885) seaside spray( 154901)).
  • Embellishments:  Gold Hoops (152474), Gold Trim (in Forever Greenery Trim Combo 152475), Just Jade Gingham Ribbon (in Flowers for every Season Combo 153620).

Measurements & preparation:

  • Card Base - Granny Apple Green:  11"x 4 1/4", fold at 5 1/2"
  • DSP:  5 1/4" x 4".
  • Die cut white CS using the square from Snail Dies.  Run it through the cut & emboss machine again with the Stitched With Whimsy Die that fits (the die only puts the stitching on the CS; it doesn't cut the CS).
  • Stamp the sentiment using black ink onto white CS; stamp the tiny shamrocks (Oval Occasions stamp set) using Garden Green; die cut using the Stitched Rectangle die.
  • Stamp the snail in black ink onto white CS; die cut using Snail Dies.
  • Coloring:  Color the snail using Stampin' Blends in light & dark Granny Apple Green.  I colored the eyes using Seaside Spray.  And I used the Seaside Spray to color the floral image in the sentiment piece.
  • Die cut the rick-a-rack strip of Gold Foil using the die from Autumn Essentials Dies.
    • alternatively, if you don't have that die, these could be used:  Peony dies 152701; Ornate borders 152724; or cut a straight strip of the Gold Foil 3/4" x 5 1/4".

Assemble:

  • Adhere the DSP to the card base.
  • Using Tear & Tape, or Stampin' Seal+, or other strong adhesive, attach the ribbon to the gold foil strip, then adhere to the card front.
  • Using Stampin' Dimensionals, add the sentiment piece and the die-cut square, slightly overlapping (see photo).

  • Tie a bow onto the Gold Hoop with the Gold Twine.  Using Mini Glue Dots (rolled up), adhere the hoop to the square, placing the glue dot(s) where the snail will cover so they don't show.  You may want to add a glue dot under the bow, also.
  • Add the snail, using dimensionals, placing him over the point where you glued the hoop.
  • Optional:  I added a heart that I die-cut using Snail Dies and some of the DSP.  (I had poorly stamped a shamrock at that spot, so I covered it with the heart!)
By using a mix of stamp sets & dies, I was able to create this cute St. Patrick's Day card.  Let me know what you think!
