Stampin' Up!© Cutest Halloween, Sweetest Ice Cream

Hello!  Welcome to today's blog and card sharing.

The other day I was enjoying a delicious pumpkin ice cream cone, when, of course it brought to mind the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set.  (well, yes, I'm often thinking about stamping and card ideas...aren't you?  😊).  I decided to do a Halloween version of an ice-cream-cone card I made in the past.  To see & shop the list of supplies I used, go HERE

Here are Supplies:

  • Sweet Ice Cream stamp set (Annual Catalog)
  • Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch (Annual Catalog)
  • Cutest Halloween Bundle(July-December - Holiday Mini Catalog); stamp set + Halloween Punch
  • Cute Halloween 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (Holiday Mini)
Striped side of DSP will be cut using Scalloped Contours Dies.
The other side has the pumpkin face, to be punched out.

  • Cute Stars Adhesive-Backed Sequins (Holiday Mini)
  • Frightful Tags Dies (holiday Mini) - for the die-cut spider web.  This die can be purchased in the Frightfully Cute Bundle, or separately.  Bundle saves you 10%
  • Scalloped Contours Dies (Annual Catalog)

  • Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder (Annual Catalog)
  • Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder (Annual Catalog)
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Basic White card stock, Basic Black CS, Pumpkin Pie CS, Basic Gray CS.

Now, to create this card...
~Start with Die cutting & punching the cone, and die cutting the web
Ice cream cone:
Stamp set & punch used to make the ice cream cone.

  • Emboss a piece of Pumpkin Pie CS with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.  Then use the Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch to punch out the Pumpkin scoops of ice cream.  Stamp black sprinkles on each scoop.
  • Stamp the cone image using Memento black ink onto Basic Gray CS; punch out using the Ice Cream Cone Builder punch.
Die-cut the spider's web from Basic Black CS using Frightful Tags Dies.

~Card base & background
  • Base:  Black CS 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", score/fold at 4 1/4".
  • Basic White, 5 1/2" x 3 1/4".  Emboss this piece using the Brick & Mortar 3D Emboss Folder.  Glue to card base, lining up bottom edges.
  • Striped piece:
    • Cute Halloween DSP, 5 1/2" x 2".
    • Die cut one long edge using largest scallop die from Scalloped Contours Dies (shown in photo above).
    • Glue to card front, lining up top edges (overlapping the brick & mortar piece).
~Sentiment Piece:
  • On a piece of white CS (approx. 2 1/4" x 1"), with black ink, stamp the sentiment from Sweet Ice Cream stamp set.
  • Stamp the spider from Cutest Halloween stamp set.  With a black marker, draw the straight, small web line that the spider is hanging from.
  • Punch out the pumpkin face from the Cute Halloween DSP using the Halloween Punch.  Glue pumpkin face just to the edge, under the spider.  Set this aside for a moment.   (This entire sentiment piece will be adhered to the card after the web is glued down... in the assembly step.  Keep reading.)
~Assemble
  • Cut the spider's web into 2 pieces, not quite in half, more like 2/3 and 1/3.  Glue the larger piece near the bottom, along the right hand edge of the card front.  Glue the smaller piece along the top left-hand side of card front.
Spider web cut not-quite-in-half, then glue to card front.

  • Now glue the sentiment piece, including the pumpkin face, overlapping the spider web.
  • Assemble the ice cream cone:  I glued the cone down first, then I used Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the scoops, starting with the bottom scoop first, adding/overlapping each successive scoop.
  • Add Cute Stars Sequins - I used the orange ones. (They come in orange, black & purple.)

~Inside panel
White CS, 4 1/2" x 3 1/8".
Strip of the DSP, 4 1/2" x 3/4".
Stamp the greeting from Cutest Halloween stamp set.
Stamp the ghost outline & face from the same set.

Glue the panel to the inside of the card.

There you have it!

Stampin' Up! Pretty Pumpkins Fall Card

 Hello!  Happy Autumn!!

It's that time of year for fall colors & pumpkins!  Today's card layout is one I have used before, which I call the "split-front" card.  It's one of my favorites to make. One of the reasons I like it - I like to overlap the front, focal piece, creating more dimension and interest.  I'll give you the measurements and the supplies I used.  Ready?

Supplies

  • Stamp sets:  Pretty Pumpkins, Nuts About Squirrels (sentiment).
  • Dies:  Detailed Pumpkin Dies (Bundled the dies with the Pretty Pumpkin stamps - save 10%), and Layering Circles Dies.
  • Designer Series Papers:  Beauty of the Earth DSP (leaves), and Pattern Party (polka dots).
  • Card stock:  Pumpkin Pie, Basic White
  • Stampin' Blends:  Pale Papaya, Soft Succulent (to color the pumpkins & leaves).
  • Ink Pads:  Cinnamon Cider (stamp the pumpkins), Early Espresso (sentiment).
  • Embellishments:  Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots (in the Holiday Mini Catalog).

Measurements:

  • Pumpkin Pie CS card base, 5 1/2" x 7 1/4".  Score at 4 1/4".
  • Beauty of the Earth DSP panels:
    • large, front panel:  2 3/4" x 5 1/4".
    • smaller, inside piece:  1 1/4" x 5 1/4".
  • Polka Dot piece from Pattern Party DSP:  4" x 2 1/2".
  • Die cut 2 scalloped circles using Layering Circles Dies, larger one is Pumpkin Pie CS, smaller is Basic White CS.
  • Pieces of white CS to stamp the pumpkins & for the sentiment.

Focal Piece:

  • Piece of Basic White:  stamp the trio of pumpkins from Pretty Pumpkins stamp set using Cinnamon Cider ink;  die cut using Detailed Pumpkins Dies.
  • Color in the pumpkins & leaves with Light & Dark Pale Papaya and Lt & Dark Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends.  (If you want some darker shades on the pumpkins, use Pumpkin Pie Blends.)
  • Stamp the sentiment from Nuts About Squirrels stamp set using Early Espresso Ink on to white CS strip.  Cut one end as a banner/flag.

Assemble:

  • Glue the DSP panels (Beauty of the Earth) to the Pumpkin Pie card base, larger one on the card front & smaller to the inside, aligning 1/8" from the right inside edge.
  • Glue the polka dots DSP on next (to card front), lining up the right edge with the panel of Beauty of the Earth DSP.
  • Focal Piece
    • Glue the white scalloped circle on top of the Pumpkin Pie scalloped circle.
    • Adhere the pumpkins using Stampin' Dimensionals.
    • Adhere the sentiment with a glue dot to the largest pumpkin, and use a Stampin' Dimensional where it overlaps the scallops.
    • Add embellishments - Brushed Metallic Dots (I used the copper colored ones.)
  • Now adhere it to the card front, using glue on just the area that will stick to the polka dots DSP (about 2/3 of the circle),  leaving about 1/3 of the circle NOT glued, allowing the card to open.

There you have it.

What do you think?  I hope you will be inspired to make your own fall card or other project.  This might be the perfect one to do for World Cardmaking Day, October 2, 2021.  To celebrate World Card Making Day, create & send a card to all the special people in your life.

Stampin' Up! © Cutest Halloween Cards

Today I am showing a trio of Halloween cards using products from the Cute Halloween Suite.  This Suite is in the current July-December (Holiday) Mini Catalog.  See all items in the Suite.

I also want to show a water coloring technique I used as a background for the characters.  If you are familiar with the popular alcohol+blenders technique that's been trending, this is similar.  But instead of using alcohol + Stampin' Blends (which are alcohol-based ink pens), I used water and the Classic Ink Pads.

Let's start with these backgrounds, what you need, & how I did them.  Then I'll talk about the card papers, measurements & assembly.   For a list of all products, go HERE.

Background water color technique

What you need to do this watercolor technique:

  • Classic Ink Pads - I used Pumpkin Pie & Highland Heather
  • Acrylic Block - I used the "D" block (118485).  Use a larger block if you want a larger background piece.  The D block was perfect for the Halloween cards I'm sharing, today.
  • Fluid Watercolor Paper (149612)
  • Stampin' Spritzer (126185)

Open up the ink pads and directly apply ink to the acrylic block.

Use the Stampin' Spritzer (first filling it with water), to lightly mist the ink on the block.  I put a paper towel under the block for this step, to catch any mist over-spray.

Now stamp the wet inks onto the Watercolor Paper.  Set aside to dry completely.

Each time you do this, you will get a slightly different look; no two backgrounds will be exactly the same. As you can see in the photo above. Try playing with this, using different amounts of color, and different amounts of water.  I have found I like the look best when I don't mist too much water.

Once the piece is dry, you can trim it down, as I'll talk about as we make the card.

Card Details for the HEY, BOO! Ghost card:

  • Card base:  Highland Heather CS, 8 1/2" x 4 1/4", fold at 4 1/4".
  • DSP layer:  Cute Halloween DSP, 4" x 4".  Glue this to the card base.
  • Water color piece (from technique above):  trim the piece, approximately 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" .
  • Black Glitter paper:  cut this to be 1/4" larger, all around, than the water color background piece (3" x 3").  Glue the water colored piece to this glitter paper.
  • Punch the ghost out of the Cute Halloween DSP using the Halloween Punch.
  • Stamp the sentiment from Cutest Halloween stamp set using Memento Black Ink on to a piece of white card stock, then trim it and glue it to the background.
  • Cut a length of Black & White 1/4" Gingham Ribbon approximately 4 1/4".  Position it under the sentiment, wrap one end to the back, and use adhesive to secure it on the back of the glitter paper.  Use glue dots to adhere it to the front of the water colored piece, leaving one end free.  Trim this free end.
  • Glue the Glitter Paper-Water color piece to the card front.
  • Add the Ghost that you had already punched out, using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Add some Cute Stars Adhesive-Backed Sequins (I used the black ones).

There you have it!

Here is another ghost card on which I stamped the sentiment directly on the water colored piece.  And as you can see, the backgrounds are slightly different.

For the inside of these cards, I used basic white CS 4" x 4", glued a piece of DSP 4" x 3/4" and stamped greeting from Frightfully Cute stamp set.

I made two more versions, that are the same card size.  Card base 8 1/2" x 4 1/4", fold at 4 1/4".  Layer of DSP 4" x 4".

Smiley Faces card:

  • Water coloring:  I used these inks - Pumpkin Pie, Highland Heather, & just a little Memento Black.
  • Spritz lightly with water; stamp onto Watercoloring Paper.  Let thoroughly dry, and trim.
  • Layer of Basic Black CS behind the water colored piece.
  • A second, smaller piece of water colored background 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" - (I had some left over) that I stamped the sentiment from Cutest Halloween set.
  • Punch out the cat and the pumpkin faces from the Cute Halloween DSP.

Fussy cut the skull face from the DSP.

Use a strip of left-over Black Glitter Paper along the bottom of the focal piece.

Add Cute Stars Sequins - I used the orange ones on this card.

And the last card,

Bat card:

  • Same card base (Highland Heather), same size, 8 1/2" x 4 1/4", fold at 4 1/4".
  • Layer of Cute Halloween DSP, the striped pattern, 4" x 4".   Wrap a piece of the Black & White Gingham Ribbon around, near the bottom edge; then adhere it to the card front.
  • Water coloring:  this time I used Polished Pink ink pad and Highland Heather ink.
  • For the Bat:  Use Layering Circles Dies to cut the bat image from Cute Halloween DSP.  Then flip the DSP over, (the back side of the Bats is a blackish piece) & cut another circle, one size larger.  Glue the bat image to the black circle.

  • Use this same DSP, the black side, to cut a square to back the water colored piece, approx. 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" (or 1/4" larger all around than the water colored piece).  Glue water color piece to this black piece.
  • Glue the bat piece onto the water color piece.
  • Stamp the sentiment from Cutest Halloween stamp set in Memento Black ink onto a strip of basic white CS.  Trim ends as a banner.  Add to card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Add Cute Stars Sequins - I used the purple on this card.

As you can see, you can mix any of the images from either the stamps or the Cute Halloween DSP with any of the background layers to create any number of cute Halloween cards.

I hope you found some inspiration here, today.  Do you have a favorite from these cards?  They are so fun to make, and even more fun to send & share.  I hope you will do that!

Stampin' Up!© Frightfully Cute Halloween Card

Hi!  Happy you are here, today.  I'm sharing a fun-fold card using the Frightfully Cute Bundle from the July-December (Holiday) Mini Catalog.  I'm also using the Cute Halloween 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (DSP) that is also in the Mini Catalog.  It can be purchased alone, or with the Cute Halloween Suite of products.  The star embellishments from the Suite also found their way onto my card, today.  As you'll see.

Supply list HERE

September host code:   ZDECNQZP

Here are the steps to make this fun fold card.

1.  Cut your papers:

  • Card base:  Start with Basic Black card stock, 11" x 4 1/4".  Score this at 5 1/2".
  • Now cut off one of the ends at 2 3/4".  SAVE this piece (2 3/4" x 4 1/4").

  • Cut DSP piece, the black & white candy, 4 1/8" x 2 5/8".
  • Cut DSP, the green with houses, 4" x 2 1/2".
  • Cut a piece of Basic White CS, for the inside, 5" x 3 3/4".

2.  Adhere DSP pieces

  • Glue the candy DSP to the flap of the card base.
  • Glue the green with house piece to the piece of black CS that was cut off the base.
  • DON'T adhere the white, inside piece, yet.  You will be stamping some images on this. (You can adhere now, if you want.  I usually wait to do my "stamping then sticking" in case my stamping goes wrong.  The choice is yours.)

3.  Die Cutting

  • Using the Frightful Tags Dies that come in the Frightfully Cute Bundle, die cut the tree & the fence out of Basic Black CS.
  • Using Layering Circles Dies, cut the moon from white CS.  Use the circle die that is 1 7/8" in diameter.

4.  Time to stamp.

  • Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamp the witch on to a piece of white.  Fussy cut her out.  (It's ok to have a small white border around her, as it won't show once she's glued to the moon.)
  • Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, stamp the sentiment onto the moon, positioning it towards the right edge, so that you can add the witch later.
  • Stamp the inside sentiment and flasks on to the large white CS cut earlier (5" x 3 3/4").

5.  Putting it all together

  • NOW you can glue the piece with the stamped flasks to the inside.
  • Glue the witch to the moon.

  • Glue the left half of green house piece to the card FLAP front.  CAREFUL not to apply any adhesive except to the area which will stick to the flap.  You want to be able to open the card.
  • Glue the moon to the green house piece.
  • Glue the tree, slightly overlapping the moon.
  • Glue the fence.

6.  Add some Cute Stars Adhesive-Backed Sequins to the inside (or wherever you would like to put them).

There you are!  What do you think?  I like the layout of this fun-fold card, and I can think of many more variations to try.  Maybe you, too, already have some ideas!

Stampin' Up!© Butterfly Brilliance Black & White

Hello!  Today I'm sharing 2 cards that were inspired by Meg Loven.  These cards start with a black & white theme, and then have a pop of color added.  I chose to use the color Shaded Spruce.  I'll give you all the details and also a link at the end of the blog for supplies so you can create your own cards.

********************************************************************

I used a SALE-A-BRATION item on my first card - the Beautifully Penned Designer Series Paper.  See all the selections that are in this pack of 12" x 12" black, whites, & grays DSP:

Beautifully Penned DSP Item 156630 FREE with a purchase of $50

I used two sets of dies:  Brilliant Wings Dies (to cut butterflies) and Stitched So Sweetly Dies (for the sentiments.

Stamp sets are Butterfly Brilliance and Biggest Wish.  The two inks for butterflies and sentiment:  Smoky Slate and Memento Tuxedo Black.

Card details

Paper measurements
  • Card Base:  basic white CS, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" folded at 4 1/4".
  • Layer of Black CS:  5 1/8" x 3 7/8".
  • Beautifully Penned DSP:  5" x 3 3/4.
  • For Butterflies:
    • basic white CS 6 1/2" x 5"
    • stamp the butterfly stamp, Butterfly Brilliance, (it is one large stamp of 6 butterflies) in Memento Tuxedo Black ink
    • die cut the butterflies with the large single die from Brilliant Wings Dies.  This die cuts all 6 butterflies at once.
    • die cut 2 of the smallest butterflies from the Brilliant Wings Dies using the Black Glitter Paper (153518) that's in the July-December (Holiday) Mini Catalog.
  • Piece of white CS approximately 4" x 3" to stamp sentiment

I started with the black & white floral and blended some Shaded Spruce ink over the flowers.

I glued this panel onto a piece of Basic Black card stock, then glued that to a Basic White card base.

Use Butterfly Brilliance stamps and the Brilliant Wings Dies to stamp & cut the detailed butterflies.
Use the Biggest Wish stamps to stamp the sentiment; use Smoky Slate and Memento inks.
Die cut the sentiment using Stitched So Sweetly Die.
Use Shaded Spruce CS to cut 2 accent strips (3" x 1/2").  Stagger these and glue to card front.  (If you have Spruce Satin Ribbon from 2020 Holiday Catalog, you can use that, as I did.  But the card stock works just fine.)

Use Stampin' Dimensionals to add the sentiment over the strips of green CS.
Choose two of the butterflies that you've stamped & die-cut, and glue to the card front.

"Embellishments" - die-cut butterflies from Black Glitter paper.  Also, Pastel Pearls that I've colored with the Stampin' Blends (alcohol-based ink pens).  When you want to create embellishments that are color-coded to your project, use the Stampin' Blends to color pearls, rhinestones or other embellishments.

Glue the embellishments to card front.
Done!!

*******************************************************************

For the 2nd card I used the Buffalo Check selection from the Pattern Party 12" x 12" DSP.  This is a large package of 48 sheets that you can get when your personal purchase or a party's total earns this as part of your Rewards points.
One side of every sheet is a black & white pattern.  I chose to use the Buffalo Check.

Paper measurements for the 2nd card are the same as the 1st card.  You can use some of the butterflies you've already die-cut for the 1st card, too.  The same die set was used for the sentiment, but the die is one of the rectangles on this card.  Again, color some pearl embellishments to finish off the card.

I hope you found some inspiration today.  To see the supplies click HERE.

What other color combinations do you like with black & white?  Pinks?  Yellows?  Oranges?  What is your favorite?
