Stampin' Up!© You're A Peach

Welcome!  I'm sharing cards made using one of the Designer Series Paper packs that is currently on sale.  Save 15%!  But shop soon.  Sale ends August 2!  Click HERE to see the selection from You're A Peach DSP.

You're a Peach DSP is such pretty paper.  Have you ever had to make a difficult choice about which side of the beautiful double-sided DSPs to feature on your cards?  Today I will show you a way to solve that problem!  These cards will show off BOTH sides of the DSP.  No need to make a choice.  I want to thank fellow SU Demonstrator Jessica Taylor for this idea.

Let's get started.

In addition to using the You're A Peach DSP, I'm using the Sweet As A Peach stamp set.

Card base:  Calypso Coral, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4".  NOW, cut off 3 1/4" from one side.  This leaves you a card base with a 1" card front at this point.  We'll glue some DSP to this flap to finish constructing the front.

But first, if you want, as I did, emboss this 1" flap.  I placed just the flap into an Embossing Folder, then ran it through the Cut & Emboss Machine. (I used an EF from last year's Holiday Mini, called Wrapping in Texture Embossing Folder, but any pattern of your choice will work)

Now to add the DSP.   Cut the Designer Paper 4" x 5 1/2" piece.

Now you have these 2 components:

Next, apply glue or Stampin' Seal to the inside edge of the 1" flap and to the left edge front of the DSP - see the white strips in the photo below to help with placement of the adhesive.

White strips in the photo represent where to apply glue/adhesive.  Note the DSP is lined up with the right-hand edge of the Calypso card stock, "away" from the fold.

Line up the card base and DSP, right-hand edges and top & bottom of card base ("inside"); fold the flap over and adhere the flap edge to the DSP left edge.  Now you have a card front of DSP, with an edge of the Calypso Coral card stock.  When you open the card, inside, you see the other side of the pretty DSP.

DSP glued to the 1" card stock flap, creating the full card front.

Inside, showing other side of the DSP that's glued to the card stock flap.

The card front can be decorated for any occasion.  In this example I made a birthday card.

Sentiment:  stamp the Happy Birthday with Calypso ink onto Basic White CS; stamp a blossom in Pale Papaya with a Calypso Coral center; trim piece; adhere to card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

For the inside greeting:

  • Basic White CS:  4" x 5 1/4".
  • The peach image is made by using 2 colors of ink, giving it some variation in color.  Here's how:  Ink up the peach image stamp with Pale Papaya ink.  Then, using a Sponge Dauber (or piece of sponge), dab on some Calypso Coral directly onto the stamp.  Now stamp it down onto the white CS.  Stamp the leaves in Old Olive ink.   Stamp the greeting in Calypso Coral.
  • Glue the panel to the card base.

*************************************************************************
Ready to see another card?

The 2nd card uses some of the blue background DSP.  Construction will be the same as the first card.  For the embossed front flap, this time I used the polka dot emboss folder from Checks & Dots Embossing Folder (in the current Annual Catalog).  I thought this went well with the DSP "flip side" that is a pattern of dots!

Card Base:  Balmy Blue card stock, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4"; cut off 3 1/4" from one side, leaving a 1" flap.

Emboss the 1" flap, next, if you so desire:  place just the 1" inside your favorite pattern Emboss Folder, such as Checks & Dots.  Run it through the Cut & Emboss Machine.

Cut DSP 4" x 5 1/2".
Here are your two components:

Place glue or Stampin' Seal (or Snail Adhesive - your choice) on inside edge of flap, and on the left-side edge of DSP, as in the first card.

Line up DSP to the right edge of card base (away from the fold/crease), fold the flap down over the left edge of DSP.
Front of card

Inside, showing the other side of the DSP.

Front sentiment:  stamp the sentiment in Calypso Coral ink onto white card stock; stamp flowers in Pale Papaya, flower centers with Calypso.  Trim one end as a banner/flag.  Adhere with glue or dimensionals.

Inside greeting - as before, start with a piece of Basic White CS 4" x 5 1/4".
Stamp the peach image with Pale Papaya with dabs of Calypso ink.  Leaves in Old Olive (or Pear Pizzazz dabbed with olive ink).
Stamp the sentiment (it's actually 2 separate stamps from the Sweet As A Peach set) in Calypso Coral.
Adhere to card base.

*******************************************************************

One more to show you another option for decorating the front 1" flap, instead of embossing.  On this one I used some olive green thread/twine, wrapped around 3 times, and tied with a little bow.

Inside, another version, also:

Stampin' Up! Hand-Penned Petals

Just a few days remaining in the Designer Series Paper Sale - ends August 2.

I wanted to show you some cards made with the Hand-Penned 12" x 12" DSP - only $9.78 USD during the sale, saving you 15% . This has been the #1 best-seller so far.  There is no limit to the number of packages you order during this sale.  A great time to stock up on this and 8 other selections.  Shop HERE.

On to the cards that I want to share with you, today.

As you'll know if you've visited my blog in the past, I love this "split-front" card layout.  You can view the previous card by putting "Pansy Petals" in the search box in the right side-bar.  But I will be giving you the directions for the split-front card here, too.

In addition to the DSP, I used Hand-Penned Petals Stamp Set, and the Penned Flowers coordinating Dies.  I also used the Sunflower Dies to cut a jagged, circular piece that you see behind the floral image.  Ink pads are Pale Papaya, Misty Moonlight, Soft Succulent, and Memento Tuxedo Black.

The layout, stamping, and cutting are the same for both cards.  I just used different choices of the DSP from the package of Hand-Penned DSP and different colors of card stock & inks.

The Misty Moonlight card

Card Base:  Misty Moonlight  - cut this 7 1/4" x 5 1/2".  Then score on the long side 4 1/4".

DSP:  Cut a piece 4" x 5 1/4", then cut this piece again at 2 3/4" - so you now have 2 pieces.

Adhere the DSP pieces to the Misty Moonlight base:

  • The smaller piece goes inside.

  • The larger piece goes on the card front.

Focal image piece

  • Use the Sunflower Die and cut out from a coordinating piece of DSP;  I used the one in Pale Papaya with the polka dots.
  • Use Hand-Penned stamps to stamp the floral image outline with black Memento ink onto Basic White card stock.
  •  Use the filler stamps to color in the outlined flowers
    • Misty Moonlight, "stamped off" first, so it's a lighter  value.
    • Pale Papaya for the smaller flowers
    • Soft Succulent for the leaves, some full-strength, some stamped off for lighter look.
  • Now die cut this piece using the Penned Flowers Dies.

Sentiment piece

  • Cut a strip of another coordinating DSP 1" by approximately 4 1/4".  Use a punch or fussy cut one end as a "flag" (V-cut).
  • Stamp the sentiment, keeping in mind it should be off to the right-side so the floral piece can overlap it a little.

Assemble

  • Adhere/glue the sentiment piece near the bottom of the card front; glue just to the left-front panel, without letting any glue be to the far right (which would seal the card closed).
  • Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the floral image to the sunflower die-cut piece; then with more Dimensionals, adhere to the card front, slightly overlapping the sentiment piece.

For the Inside:  Cut a piece of basic white CS 2 1/4" x 5 1/4".  Glue inside card.

*******************************************************************

Pale Papaya card

Repeat the steps used for the Moonlight card.

  •  Card base is Pale Papaya, 7 1/4" x 5 1/2", score at 4 1/4".
  • Coordinating DSP, 4" x 5 1/4" then cut at 2 3/4" giving you 2 pieces, 2 3/4"x 5 1/4" and 1 1/4" x 5 1/4".
  • Adhere smaller piece inside, larger piece to card front.
  • Stamp flower image in black; stamp the filler colors, Pale Papaya (flowers) and Soft Succulent (leaves); die-cut.
  • Die-cut large sunflower outline (rough circular piece) using Sunflower Dies and a coordinating piece of the Hand-Penned DSP.
  • Cut the sentiment piece from another coordinating piece of DSP; stamp sentiment in black.
  • Glue the sentiment piece, just to the card front, keeping the overlapping edge free (so not to glue the card shut).
  • Use dimensionals to place the focal piece, floral on top of the circular piece.

Embellishments:  You'll notice I added embellishments to both cards. This is optional, and you can use any gems or embellishment dots you have on hand.

On the Misty Moonlight card I used some Opal Rounds under the "thanks" and on the floral piece; also used some dark blue (older product I had) for centers.  On the Papaya card I used Elegant Faceted Gems in the flower centers and Matte Black Dots on the sentiment piece.

*****************************************************************

There you have it.  Let me know what you think.  Do you have a favorite?

I hope you are inspired to try this layout and create your own card.  It's very versatile and fun to use.  If you're on Face Book, share your projects at my FB Business Site:  Julie Petrie Crafts.

Remember to take a look at the Designer Series Papers that are on sale.

With 15% off, it's a great time to stock up.  Also note:  The In Good Taste 12" x 12" paper pack is larger than the others - it's 24 double sided sheets rather than the usual 12 sheets - it's a super pack of wood-grained & tile & fabric-textile looking papers. See by clicking GOOD TASTE.  These DSP make great backgrounds for so many types of cards, especially if you need a more masculine card.  Also the wood-grained papers will be great for Christmas cards that feature pine boughs, trees, and other elements from nature.  Good to shop them now, and save.  Click HERE to hop over to my online store.

JULY HOST CODE:   RVAZGUE6

Use the host code at checkout for orders under $150 (before tax, shipping).  At Check Out: It's entered in the box near the upper right corner.

Stampin' Up! © Expressions In Ink Suite

Welcome to my blog today!  I've used elements from the beautiful Expressions In Ink Suite to create a thank you card.

I've also used one of my newest dies, that I think you will love - the Stitched Greenery Die.  This is such a versatile die to use with almost any stamp set, especially those with floral and plant images.  I just love the subtle stitched leaves as a background, don't you?

For the entire list of products used, click HERE.

Steps to create this card:

  • Card base:  Basic White CS, 11" x 4 1/4", score & fold at 5 1/2".
  • Mint Macaron CS, 4 1/8" x 5 3/8".  Use the Stitched Greenery Die, and run this through the Cut & Emboss Machine to get the background.  Glue this layer to the Basic White card base.
  • Use the Artistic Dies and the Expressions In Ink Specialty Designer Series Papers - cut out 2 of the leaf branches from one of the green pieces of Expressions In Ink Specialty DSP.  The DSP has the alcohol-watercolor technique look, and this gives the leaves a variety of color & texture, including some of the gold streaks found in the DSP.
  • Stamp the large floral image with Polished Pink ink onto white CS; stamp dots for flower center using Shaded Spruce ink.  Die cut the flower.
  • Stamp the smaller floral image twice with Blushing Bride ink onto white CS; stamp dots for center using Polished Pink ink.  Die cut both flowers.
  • Stamp the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto white CS.  Trim approximately 3" x 1 1/4".  Glue a narrow strip of gold from scraps of the Expressions In Ink Ephemera Pack (or from any other gold-embellished paper pack you may have - I used a scrap piece from Forever Gold Specialty Designer Paper that I had from a past catalog).

Putting it all together:

  • Using liquid glue &/or small glue dots, adhere the branches of leaves to the card front.
  • Layer the 2 smaller flowers next, tucking in and around the leaves.
  • Using Stampin' Dimensionals, adhere the largest flower, overlapping the smaller flowers & the leaves.
  • Adhere the sentiment piece - gluing where it overlaps the large flower & using a dimensional for the other end.
  • Optional:  tuck some gold leaves from the Ephemeral Pack around the sentiment.

You may wonder how I came up with this color palette, using the Mint Macaron and the two different pinks.  Often, I choose colors from the DSP I am using.  This time, I chose the Mint Macaron and the pinks from colors in a pack of the upcoming holiday papers called Whimsy & Wonder Specialty DSP.  This pack will be available to purchase on August 3.  Stay tuned.  It's simply beautiful paper!  It has very non-traditional color combinations for Christmas.  I can't wait to share it with you in an upcoming post.

****************************************************************

I hope you enjoyed seeing the card today.  Let me know what you think.

Reminder:  There is still time to save 15% on selected packs of Designer Series Papers.  Click SHOP to do so now through August 2.  No limit on number of packages, so it's a great time to stock up.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I hope you'll be back again.  Let me know if you have any questions, or if you are looking for a Demonstrator; I'd love to help with your crafting needs.  If you'd like a copy of the upcoming July-December Mini (Holiday) Catalog and the Sale-a-bration Brochure, drop me an email with your mailing address & I'll be happy to send them to you.

Stampin' Up!® Sweet Stockings Suite

Sneak Peek Christmas in July!

If you are a pet lover, you will want to get the adorable Sweet Stockings Suite of products that will be available to order August 3.  It's in the July-December (Holiday) Mini Catalog.

The Catalog, as you can see in the photo, is called the "July-December 2021 Mini Catalog."  However, due to shipping & inventory issues this year, products were delayed and will be available starting August 3.  Since the Catalogs were already printed, Stampin' Up! kept them as is, and you'll see the July month still on the cover, rather than August-December.

Now let me tell you about the card.

Details for my "Santa Paws" card:

  • Card base:  Cherry Cobbler CS, 11" x 8 1/2", fold at 5 1/2".
  • Layer of Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper, 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".
  • Strips of Cherry Cobbler CS as "ribbon" - 1/4" x 5 3/8" and 1/4" x 4 1/8".  Glue to the DSP layer.  Cut two more little strips, 1/4" wide to for the "ribbon tails/ends".  Glue onto the intersection of the "ribbon" strips.
  • From the Sweet Stockings DSP, cut around the dog, cat-in-the-box, and little gift-holding mouse; I used Layering Ovals Dies and Layering Circles Dies to cut around the images.
  • Label piece:   Stamp sentiment from Sweet Little Stockings stamp set using Cherry Cobbler ink onto white CS.  Die cut (a rectangle) with Scalloped Contours Dies; then trim to final 1 1/4" wide with scallops on the ends only, and straight edges along the long sides.  (see photo)

Glue the label/sentiment piece near the bottom of the card front.

Adhere the pets using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Add Matte Decorative Dots from the Sweet Stockings Suite of products, using the Cherry Cobbler ones.  (The Bumblebee colored ones would also work.)

That's it!  What do you think?

It's a very cute, very fun stamp set, and wonderful coordinating Designer Series Papers.  The Suite also includes the Matt Dots (used on my card) in 4 colors, some felt sheets in 3 colors, the stamp set + dies bundle, and Pool Party striped grosgrain ribbon.

Stay tuned to see more Bundles and Suites of products that will be available for purchase beginning August 3!  Want them sooner?  Join SU on my team and you can add the new products to your Starter Kit.  Let me know if you are interested in joining.

If you've purchased from me in the past year, you will be receiving one of the Mini Catalogs in the mail, along with the Sale-A-Bration Brochure.  This year Stampin' Up! is having 2 Sale-a-bration periods; we had one in the Spring, and now this upcoming Aug-Sept one.  SAB items are FREE when you make a purchase of  $50, or $100 (two levels of available products).

No hassles, no worries.

********************************************************************

Time to view a card or two as examples.  These are alternative cards that I created using the JUNE Kit.

For the month of June, the Paper Pumpkin Kit was Expressions In Color.  This kit had the additional feature of coordinating with the Expressions In Ink Suite of products in the Annual Catalog.   Let me show you an "alternative" note card I made using the June Kit.

The products from the kit that I used are:

  • Bumblebee card base & envelope.
  • Bumblebee Ink Spot.
  • The Stamp Set.
  • Vellum paper.
  •  Evening Evergreen note card base.
  •  Die-cut leaves.
  • Die-cut Label
  • Self-adhesive sequins
  • Evening Evergreen Twine
  • Note sized evelope

I used the Bumblebee card base, cut it down to 3 3/8" x 4 7/8" to fit as a layered piece on top the Evening Evergreen note card base.  Using Bumblebee ink spot I randomly stamped the floral image all over the layer of Bumblebee CS.  Then in the same color ink,  I stamped some "THANKS".  Then I wrapped twine 3 times around the piece.  Next, I adhered this layer it to the Evening Evergreen note card base.

Using a punch I own, I punched out a 2 1/4" circle from the Vellum.  I adhered it to the card front using a little glue placed in the center where I knew it would be hidden behind the label.

I used one of the labels included in the Kit and stamped the THANKS in Bumblebee ink.  I added leaves from the Kit & the dimensionals from the Kit, to adhere the leaves behind the label, and then to the card front.  I put some of the sequins around the card to give a little sparkle.

The front of the envelope:  I used two of the stamps, the floral image & and a stamp that makes a "puddle" of color (for want of a better term) behind the floral.   That's all for this card.

Here's another card using some of the Kit's supplies and an additional stamp set, Turtle Friends (Annual Catalog), some Pale Papaya CS, and a label die-cut from Hippo & Friends Dies.

**************************************************************************

Those are just a couple of cards to give you an idea of how easy it is to expand on the supplies that a Paper Pumpkin Kit gives you.  Not that you have to.  The Kits come with everything you need.  It's a great way to get your stamping supplies started.  It's also great to have a kit to take with you on a trip or vacation, when you might want to do some crafting.  Stamp with family and friends by sharing a kit, or craft together remotely/virtually with each friend using their own Kit.  Lots of possibilities to have fun with others.

Interested in subscribing?  If you want July's Kit, you need to order today, July 10!  Click HERE.

JULY KIT:  THE ADVENTURE BEGINS
