Stampin' Up!© Pansy Petals Thank You

Such an abundance of pansies coming soon!  The Pansy Petals Suite of products will be available in the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog starting May 4.  Or order them today, when you become a Demonstrator!  Let me know if you are interested in joining.

This Thank-You card uses several of the new products:

  • Pansy Patch Bundle - Pansy Patch stamp set + Pansy Dies
  • Pansy Petals 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper
  • Basic Border Dies
  • 2021-2023 In Color card stock and inks:  Fresh Freesia, Evening Evergreen, Soft Sage
  • 2021-2023 In Color Jewel embellishments

Also used on the card:  Rich Razzleberry ink, Stampin' Dimensionals, 2 1/4" Circle Punch, Mango Melody Stampin' Blend

Measurements:

  • Card base:  Fresh Freesia CS, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", fold at 4 1/4".   Using the zig-zag die from Basic Border Dies, die-cut approximately 1" off the front.
  • Strip of Pansy Petals DSP:  cut 1 1/2" x 5 1/2".   Glue the strip to the inside of card.

I stamped the front of the card with the "thank you" sentiment from the Pansy Patch stamp set, using Fresh Freesia ink, and stamping all over in a random pattern

Focal Piece on Card Front:

  • Punch a 2 1/4" circle out of Evening Evergreen CS.
  • Pansies:  On some white CS, stamp the 3 pansy images.  There are 3 parts to each flower:  Stamp the more solid image of each flower in Fresh Freesia ink; stamp the next layer using the Freesia ink, but stamped off once for a lighter effect; stamp the dark center using Rich Razzelberry ink.  Color the yellow center with Mango Melody Stampin' Blend.
  • Leaves:  Use the Soft Succulent ink to stamp the solid leaf onto white CS; use Evening Evergreen to stamp the detailed leaf over the top.
  • Die-cut the pansies and the leaves.
  • Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the pansies and leaves to the Evergreen circle, then adhere all to card front, again, with dimensionals.
  • Sentiment:   I used a label from the current April Paper Pumpkin Kit, but if you don't have that, use a strip of white CS and cut "V" out at each end.  (You could also use any label punch or label die that you have on hand).  I stamped the sentiment in Evening Evergreen ink.

Lastly, I added a few of the In Color Jewels - I choose to use the Pale Papaya ones, but any of the colors would coordinate beautifully with the DSP and the pansies.  I love these pretty jewels - I know you will too!!

There you have the card today.  What do you think?

Thank you for taking a look today.  Remember, just a few more days of the Last Chance Products.

Want to see one of the retiring stamp sets?

Today's card is an easy one to create, with maximum impact, and minimal products needed.  The image and the sentiment are from one stamp set:  Four Season Floral.  This is one of the retiring stamp sets.  I also used Stitched rectangle dies, square vellum doily, and gold hoop embellishment.  The card stock is Bumblebee and Basic White, inks are Bumblebee and Memento Tuxedo Black.

Card stock measurements:

  • Card base:   Bumblebee CS, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", fold at 4 1/4".
  • White CS layer:  4 1/8" x 5 3/8".
  • Another piece of Bumblebee CS:  4" x 5 1/4"
  • White CS piece to stamp image & sentiment, then die-cut with Stitched Rectangle Dies (or just cut a piece approx.3 1/8" x 1 3/4", if you don't have the dies).

Steps to create:

  • Start by stamping the rose image from Four Season Floral stamp set, using Bumblebee ink onto Bumblebee CS layer (4" x 5 1/4" piece).   Just randomly stamp the image all over the CS.
  • Using your favorite adhesive (I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue), adhere the stamped Bumblebee to the Basic White layer (4 1/8" x 5 3/8" piece).  Then adhere to the card base.
  • On a piece of white CS, with Memento ink, stamp the rose image and the sentiment.  Color the rose using your favorite color media - I used Stampin' Blends in Mango Melody and Old Olive for the leaves.  You could also use Watercolor Pencils.  Die cut using one of the rectangle dies.
  • Using just a little liquid glue, glue the Square Vellum to the card front, placing small dots of glue where they will be hidden by the Gold Hoop and the sentiment piece. (Not too much glue, as it will show through the vellum.)
  • Next, I positioned the sentiment piece over one of the Gold Hoops and holding them in place, turned them over & put Stampin' Dimensionals on the back of the sentiment, catching the hoop under the dimensionals, thereby simultaneously holding the hoop to the back and then adhering both on top of the vellum.  The picture below shows what I'm talking about.

  • Remove the Dimensionals' backing, and adhere the sentiment+hoop to the card front.

Inside:  I used a piece of white CS 4 3/8" x 3 1/4" and stamped the rose image once using Bumblebee ink.

Stampin' Up! © Jar of Flowers Mother's Day

In keeping with the Mother's Day theme, as on my previous post, I have created another floral Mother's Day card to share with you today.  My mother had a garden of many, many roses that we used to clip and bring into the house to enjoy. Their beauty, their scent...just a cheerful presence throughout the house.  This card reminds me of those bouquets.  And of her.

The stamp sets for this card are Jar Of Flowers and Wrapped Bouquet (for the sentiment).  Card base is Poppy Parade.  The DSP layer is Pattern Party (available starting May 4).

On a panel of Basic White card stock, I stamped the jar in Smoky Slate, the stems in Old Olive, and the roses in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  The sentiment is also stamped in the Memento black.

I colored in the roses using Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends Combo pack.  The leaves and stems are colored with Old Olive Blends, with a little Mango Melon on the lighter areas of the leaves.   The filler stems are colored in Smoky Slate Blends (to me they look like eucalyptus).

The panel is cut using a Stitched Rectangles die.  This is the only die-cutting on this card, and, really, you could just cut the panel without a die, 3" x 4 1/4".

Embellishments are Matte Black Dots, and I also added a small bow out of Olive thread.

The stamped panel is adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals to the card front, which is a piece of Pattern Party DSP (4 1/8" x 5 3/8") - a new package of DSP available May 4 - glued to a card base of Poppy Parade card stock (8 1/2" x 5 1/2", folded at 4 1/4").

If you enjoy coloring flowers, I hope you are inspired to make this card.  You could also, of course, change the color of the roses and card base to match.

Stampin' Up! © Hydrangea Haven Mother's Day

 Hello!  Welcome to my blog.

I made this Mother's Day card to share with you, today.

The stamp set and dies are in the 2021 Jan-June Mini Catalog, available as a Bundle or as part of the Hydrangea Hill Suite.  The Bundle (Hydrangea Haven stamp set + Hydrangea Dies) will be carrying over into the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog, but not the entire Suite.  That means the other components, the DSP, ribbon, embellishments, and the mercury glass DSP are only available through June 30.

I've grow hydrangeas in my back yard, and I love their beautiful blooms throughout the summer.  It has been such fun to create cards using the stamps, to bring a bit of those blooms indoors, to share with you.  I thought they would make a pretty card for Mother's Day.   See if you agree.

My card design was inspired by Amy Koender's card at stampwithamyk.com.  I've used the colors Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape (card stock & inks), Old Olive ink, and I've added texture to the white CS panel using the Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder.

Materials & measurements

  • Card base:  Highland Heather card stock, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", fold at 4 1/4".
  • Layer of Gorgeous Grape CS, 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".
  • Basic White CS, 5 1/8" x 3 7/8".  Emboss this piece with Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder.
    • (Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder is retiring May 3)
  • Hydrangea Haven photopolymer stamp set.
  • Hydrangea Haven Dies
  • Dressed to Impress photopolymer stamp set (for the sentiment)
  • Inks:
    • Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, Old Olive, Basic Gray
  • Embellishments:  Pastel Pearls

Here's how I made this card:

(TIP:  in the description, when I say "stamped off"  I mean this:  first ink up your stamp, then stamp on a piece of scrape paper, then stamp onto your project.  This gives a lighter version of the same ink color)

  • Using Basic Gray ink, stamp the Hydrangea  detailed image onto white card stock twice (leave room to die-cut).  Stamp the filler colors (continue reading below) before die cutting.
  • Darker flower -
    • Use the large "filler" stamp and Gorgeous Grape ink, stamped off once, then stamped over the detailed image you've just stamped on white CS.  Use the small filler image and randomly stamp this flower over the top of the head of the hydrangea - again with Gorgeous Grape ink stamped off 1 time.  Use the filler leaf-stem image and Old Olive ink to fill in the leaves.  I stamped it in full color, no stamping off for this one.
  • Lighter flower -
    • In a similar way as I did for the darker flower, I stamped the filler images on this one.  This time the ink color is Highland Heather, stamped off, again, one time before stamping over the lined image.  The little flowers are again stamped randomly over the top of the flower head.   The leaves, this time, ARE stamped off once before filling in the lined image - I wanted a lighter look on this flower.
  • Once the flowers are colored in by stamping (as above), now it's time to die cut them out; using the Hydrangea Dies, cut out each flower.
  • Sentiment Piece:  stamp the "Happy Mother's Day" from Dressed to Impress stamp set using Basic Gray ink onto white CS.  Trim with a flag end.  Cut a piece of Gorgeous Grape CS to fit beneath it (approx.3/4" x 2 1/2").
  • Assemble:
    • Adhere the Gorgeous Grape CS layer to the Highland Heather card base.
    • Glue the white panel, which was embossed with Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder, to the card front.
    • Position the 2 die-cut hydrangeas as you like, and glue down.
    • Adhere the sentiment using Stampin' Dimensionals.
    • Add some of the pretty Pastel Pearls from the Hydrangea Haven Suite of products.

There you have it!  What do you think?

*****************************************************************
If you follow my blog, you'll know that I often like to make 2 (or even 3, sometimes!) versions of the card I'm sharing.  I hope to inspire you to think of other versions, as well.
 So....

....second card.  This was stamped like the first one, but I used a different color scheme.
  • The lined images are still stamped in Basic Gray.
  • But on this card, the colors for the flowers are Pool Party ink to stamp the filler flower head (both flowers):  stamp one full strength (darker flower) and then the 2nd stamped off one time (lighter flower).
  • The small floral image for darker flower is Misty Moonlight (stamped off) and I used Mint Macaron for the lighter flower.
  • The leaves are different ink, too; I used Granny Apple Green - full strength for darker flower, stamped off once for the lighter flower.

Materials & Paper measurements:
  • Card base:  Pool Party CS, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", fold at 4 1/4".
  • Layer of Black CS:  5 1/8" x 3 7/8".
  • DSP (polka dot) layer:  from Pattern Party DSP, 5" x 3 3/4".
    • The background is a piece of Pattern Party DSP - this will be available in the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog starting May 4.
  •  The sentiment is from the Hydrangea Haven stamp set, stamped in Basic Gray on white CS, and die cut with Scalloped Contours Dies (available May 4 in the new catalog).  Adhere the sentiment with dimensionals.
  • Embellishments:  Matt Black Dots (in the Love You Always Suite, in the JJ Mini Catalog).

Do you have a favorite?

Stampin' Up!© Sweet Ice Cream

 Who screams for ice cream??

My card today serves up 3 scoops!  I'm also giving a sneak peak of some new products with this card, that will be available in the upcoming 2021-2022 Annual Catalog starting May 4.

Here are the card components:

  • Card base:  Basic white CS, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", fold at 4 1/4".
  • White CS, 5 1/2" x 4 1/4";  embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder (#149643).
  • Sweet Ice Cream Bundle (in the Jan-June Mini Catalog):  photopolymer stamp set + Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch.
    • Bundle item #156244 - save 10% when you purchase the Bundle
    • Separately: punch, #154241;  stamps, #154456

  • Striped DSP:  Pattern Party 12" x 12" DSP - available starting May 4.
  • Scallop die from Scalloped Contours Dies - available starting May 4.

  • Stitched Rectangles Dies, #151820
  • Inks:  Flirty Flamengo, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay, Cinnamon Cider, Early Espresso

The steps to construct the card:

  • Cut the striped DSP approximately 3" x 5 1/2" then die-cut one long edge using the scallop die from Scalloped Contours Dies.
  • Emboss white cardstock (5 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece) with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder; adhere to the card base.
  • Adhere the scalloped striped piece by gluing just the top edge and using Stampin' Dimensionals along the scalloped edge, giving it an "awning" feel.
  • Stamp the 3 ice cream scoops and sprinkles on top of each scoop, in three colors onto white CS; punch these out using the Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch.
  • Stamp the cone with Cinnamon Cider ink onto white CS and punch out.  Adhere the cone & first scoop with dimensionals, then glue the next two scoops, overlapping.
  • Stamp the 2 sentiments using Early Espresso ink onto white CS, and die cut using the Stitched Rectangles Dies.  Glue to card front.

That's all there is to it!

Here is another version.  For this one, I stamped the "Happy Birthday" directly onto the striped DSP using Espresso ink.  I again stamped 3 scoops of ice cream, and also stamped 3 cones to go with, which I assembled and glued directly onto the card front.  I did still use the dimensionals under the scalloped border of the "awning."

What do you think?  Which one do you prefer?

It is so much fun to use this Sweet Ice Cream Bundle.  I hope you'll give it a try!

*********************************************************

Today's card is made using several of the retiring Stampin' Up! products: Parcel & Petals  stamp set, Perfect Parcel Dies, Rococo Rose ink & card stock, Pretty Peacock ink & card stock.

For the card base I used Rococo Rose (8 1/2"x 5 1/2", folded at 4 1/4").  I used the Rococo Rose ink for the floral images, and Pretty Peacock ink for the leaves and sentiment.  These 2 colors are from the 2019-2021 In Colors selection, and are listed on the Last Chance Products List.

Parcels & Petals stamp set has some very nice sentiments and floral images.  I really like the fonts of the greetings, a mix of script and block lettering.  This set is a retiring product, as are the coordinating dies, Perfect Parcel Dies.  The 3 watercolor-appearing floral images are all one stamp.  What could be easier to use!

The basic stamping:  The background was created on a piece of Basic White card stock by stamping the floral image (in Rococo Rose), the leaves (Pretty Peacock), and the small floral-&-leaf image (Bumblebee ink, not retiring!).

I stamped a longer piece of white card stock, then trimmed it to fit the front of my card base.  Final size is 5 1/4" x 3 1/8".

Die cutting:   I used the dies to cut the pretty border of filigree flowers out of white card stock.  For this card (in a "landscape" orientation) I needed to cut the filigree twice so as to be long enough to span the bottom edge of the card base.

Inside the card I again stamped the floral image and some leaves.  The "Happy Mother's Day" is from Dressed to Impress stamp set; this set will be carrying over to the new Annual Catalog. (Yea!)

The details to create this pretty card are below.

Stamp & die cut:

  • Card base:  Rococo Rose CS, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", fold at 4 1/4".
  • Basic White CS: 5 1/4" x 3 1/8".  Randomly stamp the floral and leaf images on this piece.  I stamped the Rococo flowers in full ink & also after stamping off once, to give different values (dark & lighter pink).
  • Strip of white CS:  stamp the sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink, then trim to 3" x 7/8".
  • Strip of Peacock CS:  approximately 3 3/4" x 1/2",  to mount under the sentiment piece.
  • Basic white CS to die cut the filigree floral twice.

Assemble:

  • Glue the floral-stamped piece to the card base.
  • Glue the 2 filigree pieces to the bottom border of the card base.
  • Glue the Peacock strip, then use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment on top of the Peacock piece.
  • Inside:
    • Basic White CS:  5 1/4" x 4".
    • Stamp flower image in Rococo; stamp leaves and sentiment in Peacock.  Adhere inside card base with glue.

List of products (retiring are highlighted):

  • Parcels & Petals cling stamp set:  Item # 149317  (retiring soon)
  • Dressed to Impress photopolymer stamp set:  151666
  • Perfect Parcel Dies (40% off):  Item 149627  (retiring soon)
  • Rococo Rose card stock: 150882  (retiring)
  • Rococo Rose Classic ink pad: 150080  (retiring)
  • Pretty Peacock card stock: 150880  (retiring)
  • Pretty Peacock Classic ink:  150083  (retiring)
  • Basic White Card Stock: 159276
  • Multipurpose Liquid Glue: 110755
  • Stampin' Dimensionals:  104430
I've made a couple more versions of the card, this time I've used some of the new In Colors that will be available May 4.

The 2021-2023 In Colors are:
Polished Pink, Soft Succulent, Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya, Evening Evergreen

Pale Papaya card base and flowers; Soft Succulent leaves; Fresh Freesia filler flower image.  Sentiment stamped in Soft Succulent; strip of Soft Succulent CS underneath the sentiment piece, Fresh Freesia Jewel embellishment.

Polished Pink card base and main flowers; Evening Evergreen leaves, sentiment, and strip of CS under sentiment piece; filler flowers are Pale Papaya.  Embellishment is Pale Papaya Jewel.

I hope you found some inspiration from my cards, today.  The stamp set can be used with whatever colors of cardstock and ink you currently have.  Or maybe it's time to try a new color?  Or play with different color combinations?  What do you think?    Have fun creating your own, unique cards!

Stampin' Up!© Grace's Garden

Today I want to share some more card ideas using products that are on the Last-Chance list.  These products are being retired from the current Annual Catalog in order to make room for new items coming soon.  Click HERE to see products in my online store.

For today's cards, the stamp set I used is Grace's Garden and coordinating Garden Gateway Dies.  The Designer Series Paper is Ornate Garden Specialty DSP.  I want to show the versatility of the stamp set, so I've created two cards.  Take a look!

The first card uses several images and dies from Grace's Garden and the coordinating Garden Gateway Dies.  The background DSP is a selection from the Ornate Garden Specialty DSP.

The card has many pieces to it.  It's a card you'll want to relax and spend some time crafting. I find it easiest to cut all the components first, then create the blended garden image inside the arch, taking time to compose and arrange the stamped plant images as I like.  Finally, assemble it all together.

I've given the measurements and basic steps below.

  • Card base:  Basic White card stock, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" & folded at 4 1/4".
  • Piece of Basic White CS that will be blended & stamped: 4" x 5 1/4".  The blending is explained in a bit (keep reading)
  • The DSP layer:  4 1/8" x 5 3/8".  Die-cut an opening in the center, using the arch die from Garden Gateway Dies.
  • Early Espresso CS:  A piece large enough to die-cut the arch-gate piece; also another piece to stamp the fence image (black ink) and die-cut it.  Once die-cut, fussy cut it to divide into two fence sections (these go on either side of the arch-gate piece).
  • So Saffron: small pieces for the sentiment & the little bird.
  • Flirty Flamengo: small pieces for the cat and the little flower on the sentiment piece.

Die cut pieces & set aside:

  • Cut the arch out of the DSP.
  •  Cut the arch+gate out of Espresso CS.
  • Stamp the fence piece - black ink onto Espresso CS; die cut it then cut it into 2 fence pieces.
  • Using the Flamengo CS, die-cut the flower & the cat (cat is stamped in black ink onto the Flamengo CS).
  • On the So Saffron:  stamp the "Hello" and the little bird; die-cut the bird; trim the "Hello" (approx.1 7/8" x 1/4").
Showing the arch+gate die cut, the opening in the DSP, and the blended insert piece (see blending below)

Blending step:

  • Using the white CS piece 4" x 5 1/4", and Blending Brushes, start at the bottom with Pear Pizazz ink and blend from the bottom towards the center, darker at the bottom, gradually lighter towards the center.  Use So Saffron ink and blend from the top downwards toward the center, getting very light near the center.  Add just a little Flirty Flamengo ink, blended softly just above center.   As you blend, place the DSP with arch cut-out to approximate where you want your blended colors to show through.

  • Next, stamp some flower plant images using Pear Pizazz ink.  Again, place the DSP-arch-cut-out piece to approximate where you want the plants to show through. Keep in mind that the gate will cover up a lot, so stamp some higher up to show over the gate.  Some of the plants are stamped full-ink, some are "stamped off" first, to give lighter versions.

Assembly:

  • Glue the blended garden scene to the card base; set aside.
  • Glue the two fence pieces then the arch+gate piece to the front of the DSP.  You might need to trim just a smidge off the two gate pieces if they overlap the DSP edges.
  • Glue the cat and bird on top of the fences/gate (exact placement is your choice).
  • Now, use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the DSP+Gate+fences to the card front.  Add the sentiment piece and the flower piece.
Finished card front

Inside:  white CS 3 3/4" x 5", stamped with the sentiment using Espresso ink; strip of DSP 3 3/4" x 3/4".

The images in Grace's Garden stamp set lend themselves to all kinds of possible garden scenes.  But on my second card, I just used a sentiment and one floral image (stamped twice) for a quick and simple card.  You can use this layout when you want to let your pretty DSP be the star.  Again, I used a selection from the Ornate Garden Specialty DSP.

Measurements:

  • Card base:  Pear Pizazz 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", fold at 4 1/4".
  • DSP layer:  5 3/8" x 4 1/8".   Glue to the card base.
  • Sentiment piece:  white CS 3" x 3" layered onto a piece of Pear Pizazz 3 1/8" x 3 1/8".
  • Stamp the images using Pear Pizazz ink onto the white CS; glue to the Pear Pizazz square.  Glue this, then, to the card front.

I added a bow die-cut out of So Saffron CS using the die from Pierced Blooms Dies.  If you don't have a bow die, you could use an actual ribbon bow, or you could stamp one of the flower images in Grace's Garden stamp set, or add an embellishment of your choice, from what you have on hand.

There you have 2 cards with very different looks, and two different levels of crafting.  These are just a couple of ideas.  I hope you are inspired to try some of your own!  From one stamp set, many possibilities.

The stamp set, dies, and DSP are on the retiring list.  Products are available to purchase now - but only while supplies last.  Once they are gone, they're gone!   Click HERE to shop my online store.
