Stampin' Up! © Dragonfly Garden Thank You

Hello there!  Welcome back to my blog.

I was going through my crafting products today, and I realized I hadn't used the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder in quite some time.  So today is the day!  Ever so often I forget to use some of my older favorites.  Does that ever happen to you?

The card that I created is a soft, almost mono-toned creation.  I brought in a little "sparkle" with some foil card stock and one pretty pearl embellishment.  I'll list all products I used near the end of this blog, and a link to add them to your cart to purchase.

Here's what I did to make this card.

I embossed Basic White card stock using the Brick & Mortar EF, and the result I saw:  a garden wall.  At least in my mind that's what it was.    The garden wall had flowers growing up against it:  I added the tall flower image from Dragonfly Garden stamp set.

Floral Panel:  I stamped the image using Old Olive ink onto white CS, then colored the flowers with Stampin' Blends (Daffodil for petals, Cinnamon Cider for flower centers).  I very lightly colored the leaves with  Stampin' Write Marker in Sahara Sand, mainly the larger leaves. (You could use Old Olive, instead. Or use watercolor pencils, as another choice.) This panel was backed with a piece of the Sahara Sand Love You Always Foil Sheet (from the Jan-June Mini Catalog), and then glued to the embossed wall.

"Thank You" sentiment:   I used the sentiment stamp from the same Dragonfly Garden set, but only the "thank you" words, not the rest "for your kindness" portion.  You could either mask off the unwanted words with tape, and ink up only what you wanted;  or do as I did:  using the Stampin' Write Marker in Old Olive, color/ink-up only the "thank you" part of the red rubber, and then stamp onto white CS.  Then I die-cut the sentiment piece with the small, narrow Stitched Rectangle die.  I adhered it to the card front, overlapping the floral image, using glue beneath the overlapped end, and using a Stampin' Dimensional beneath the other end.

My card base is Sahara Sand card stock; I glued the wall and flower panel to it.  Lastly I added a Pearl Basic Jewel.

Here are the measurements for you to create your own version:

  • Card base:  Sahara Sand CS, 11" x 4 1/4", fold at 5 1/2".
  • Embossed layer:  4" x 5 1/4".
  • Foil layer:  Love You Always Foil Sheet, Sahara Sand (154286), cut 4 1/4" x 1 3/8".
  • Flower layer:  Basic White CS, 4 1/8" x 1 1/4".
  • Die cut sentiment piece:  white card stock, cut with stitched rectangle die, final size is 2 1/2" x 1/2".
Stamp set used:  Dragonfly Garden.  Multiple ways to purchase the stamps:
  • stamp set, alone 154411
  • as a Bundle with Dragonflies Punch:  Dragonfly Garden Bundle 156224
  • in the Dandy Garden Suite:  155981

Other:
Stitched Rectangles Dies:  151820
Pearl Basic Jewels:  144219
Old Olive Classic Stampin Pad:  147090
Stampin' Blends Combo Pack:  Daffodil Delight, 154883;  Cinnamon Cider, 153105.
Stampin' Write Marker:  Sahara Sand, Old Olive.
NOTE:  Watercolor pencils could also be used to color the leaves; or you can leave them uncolored.  The look I was going for was not to have too many colors, but more mono-chromatic.

There you have it!  What do you think?
I hope you found some inspiration, today.  Maybe it's time to pull out an Embossing Folder or stamp set that you haven't used in a while.

Stampin' Up! © Butterfly Bouquet Preview

Coming in March!

Early release of new stamp set, dies, designer series paper, natural touch specialty paper - these are featured products from the new, upcoming 2021 Annual Catalog, but available soon!!  Customers can begin to order them starting Tuesday, March 2.

The DSP is 6" x 6" package of 48 sheets.  Colors are: Basic Black, Bermuda Bay, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral, Just Jade, Magenta Madness, Mango Melody, Mint Macaron, Misty Moonlight, Poppy Parade, So Saffron, Basic White.

The stamps + dies can be purchased in a bundle, saving 10%.  It's called the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle, item 155821.  Included in the die selection is one large die that coordinates with the DSP to cut out 6 butterfly images at once.

Largest die, bottom left, fits exactly over the DSP and cuts out 6 butterflies at once.

I've made a couple of cards with the Butterfly Bouquet products.   I used the largest die to cut out several butterflies from the DSP at one pass through the Cut & Emboss Machine.  I then used some of the cut-outs on each card.  Take a look!

Butterfly Thank You Card

Products used to create this are:

  • Butterfly Bijou 6" x 6" DSP
  • Card stock:  Basic White, Just Jade
  • Ink:  Just Jade
  • Stamp sets:
    • Corner Bouquet (155273) FREE Sale-a-Bration set (with $50 purchase) - through 2/28/21.
    • Sweet Strawberry 154394, or Bundle with Strawberry Builder Punch - Bundle item 156214 (Mini Catalog).
  • Dies:  Brilliant Wings Dies
  • Adhesives:  Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).
  • Cut & Emboss Machine (149653)

Putting it together:

  • Cut the DSP 5 1/4" x 4".  Stamp the sentiment  and the corner floral image in Just Jade Ink directly onto the DSP.  Using the large multi-butterfly die from Brilliant Wings Dies, cut butterflies from a piece of the Butterfly Bijou DSP.  For the smallest yellow butterfly, you will need to fussy cut that one.  Adhere the largest butterfly with dimensionals, and the 2 smaller butterflies with liquid glue, onto the DSP.
  • Layer and glue the designed piece onto a layer of Just Jade CS, 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".  Glue this all onto Basic White card base, 11"x 4 1/4" folded at 5 1/2".
I love the background DSP!  So soft and pretty.  What do you think?

Putting it together:

  • Stamp the sentiment from Quite Curvy stamp set with black ink onto white card stock; die cut with the Quite Curvy die, in 2 steps, to get a curved strip.

  • Die cut the largest butterfly from the DSP. (or use previously cut butterfly as I mentioned above.)

Stampin' Up!© Jar of Flowers and Wrapped Bouquet

 Hello, again!

I was thinking, who couldn't use a pretty bouquet of spring flowers about now?  Here in the US the country is blanketed in snow & ice in many parts of the country.  I'm fortunate to live where that hasn't happened, where we have had only recent rains, and with that, some spring blossoms are beginning to emerge.  I want to send some virtual flowers your way.  So I'm sharing this vibrant jar of flowers with you, today.

I again used one of my current favorite stamp sets:  Wrapped Bouquet.  It's in the 2021 Jan-June Mini Catalog, and comes in a Bundle (stamps + dies),  Item 156217, which you can purchase in my online store.  To shop my store, click SHOP.

The other stamp set I used is also a favorite of mine (I guess I have lots of favorites! what about your?), called Jar Of Flowers.  It's in the Annual Catalog, and has a coordinating punch for the jar image.  This is Bundled using item 154064.  (Reminder:  a Bundle saves you $10%.)

The layer of Designer Series Paper is Flowers for Every Season.  You'll find it as part of a Suite of Products in the Annual Catalog, p.10.   If you choose to get all of the Suite, the Jar Of Flowers Bundle is part of it, too.

Materials:

  • Card Base:  Just Jade card stock (item #153079), 11"x 4 1/4", folded at 5 1/2".
  • DSP layer:  Flowers For Every Season (152486), 5 1/4" x 4".
  • Basic White card stock layer:  4 1/2" x 2 1/2". (159276)
  • Other card stock:
    • Basic White piece to stamp the jar image, another white piece to stamp the bouquet image.
    • Just Jade piece to die cut the filler leaves.
    • Piece of Vellum (101856):  Use Jar Punch to punch out a jar to overlay the stamped jar image.
    • Inks/Blends:  Just Jade Classic Stampin' Pad (153115);  Stampin' Blends, Rococo Rose (154900), Flirty Flamingo (154884), Mango Melody (154888).
    • Embellishments:  2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots (152480).
The image of stems is stamped inside the jar image, then punched out.  A piece of Vellum is just punched out.  Die-cut extra leaves to fill out the bouquet.

Steps to create the card:

  • Glue the DSP layer to the Just Jade card base.  Glue the 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" Basic White on top of the DSP.  Set aside.
  • Using Just Jade ink, stamp the images of the mason jar and the flower stems inside the jar, onto white card stock; then punch out the jar image.
  • Punch another jar out of the Vellum card stock. (no stamping, just punch a jar).  Using just a little liquid glue, glue the vellum jar on top of the stamped jar, placing small dots of glue where they will be hidden by the linen thread (at the jar's neck), and/or under where the sentiment piece will cover.
  • Wrap some linen thread around the neck of the jar, tie a knot or bow.
  • Stamp the sentiment onto another small piece of white CS; cut a flag on one end. This will be glued to the front of the jar later.
  • Using jade ink, on another piece of white CS, stamp the bouquet image from Wrapped Bouquet stamp set; die cut it out using Wrapped Flowers Dies.  Color in the flowers with Stampin' Blends.
  • Die cut some filler leaves using Jade CS and the Wrapped Flowers Dies.

Assemble:

  • I assembled the bouquet and jar and filler leaves all together as one piece, before putting it all onto the card front.  I used Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere all the parts to each other first.  Then, when I was all done with that, then I removed the backings of the dimensionals and adhere it all down onto the card front.
    • Alternatively, you could first glue the bouquet and leaves and jar together, then place some dimensionals onto the back & adhere to the card front.
  • Adhere the sentiment piece:  I used glue on the end that overlaps the jar, and one dimensional on the flag end where it is in contact with the white panel.
  • Add Embellishments:  use the In Color enamel dots - Cinnamon Cider dots for the flower centers, and one Bumblebee dot on the sentiment piece.
Inside:
I adhered a strip of the DSP 3/4" x 3 3/4" to the bottom of a piece of white CS 3 3/4" x 5".

That's the card!  What do you think?

Stampin' Up! © OH SO OMBRE Designer Series Paper

Welcome to my blog!  So happy to have you visit, today.  I'm showing cards I made using the Oh So Ombre Designer Series Papers.  This is a package of 6" x 6" DSP, FREE during Sale-a-bration when you make a purchase of $50 (before tax, shipping).

The papers come in 4 colors - Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss, Granny Apple Green and Rococo Rose - and 2 patterns - circles of white, and solid.

Let me show you some cards using these papers.

Using the Bermuda Bay -

I used the solid ombre as a layer onto the card base; I used the ombre-circles on the top layer, first embossed, then die cut.  Keep reading for all the details.

Materials:

  • Card stock:  Bermuda Bay for the card base, 11" x 4 1/4", fold at 5 1/2"; pieces of Basic White for sentiment, approximately 3"x 7/8", and large enough to stamp the seahorse & two seashells.
  • DSP:  Oh So Ombre,  Bermuda Bay as a layer, 5 3/8" x 4 1/8"; and the ombre-circle piece, 4 7/8" x 3 5/8".
  • Stamp set:  Seaside Notions (149278).
  • Emboss Folder:  Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder (154317).
  • Inks:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Stampin' Blends (Petal Pink Combo 154893).
  • Dies:  Layering Circles Dies (151770).
  • Sequins:  Whale of a Time Sequins (152461)
  • Adhesives:  Mulitpurpose Liquid Glue ((110755), and Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).

Steps to create the card:

  • Glue the solid Oh So Ombre piece onto the card base.
  • Emboss the ombre-circles piece with the Painted Texture EF (optional step, but it adds some texture).  Then, using a scalloped circle die, cut out a hole (approx. 2 1/4").
  • Adhere this piece to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Stamp the seahorse and 2 seashells using black Memento ink onto white CS.  Fussy cut (hand cut) these out.  Color with Stampin' Blends in light and dark Petal Pink.
  • Stamp the sentiment in black ink onto a strip of white CS; cut a flag at one end.
  • Assemble front of card:
    • Glue the sentiment piece at the bottom of the circle opening, and slightly to one side.
    • Glue the 2 seashells overlapping each other and the sentiment.
    • Glue the seahorse to the edge of the circle using Mulitipurpose Glue, and one Dimensional to support the head inside the circle cut-out.
    • Add sequins.  The Whale of a Time Sequins pack has some in the shape of shells; use a couple on the sentiment piece.  Add other sequins, graduated in size, to look like bubbles from the seahorse.

There you have your card!

For this second card, I used the Rococo Rose Ombre selection.

The Ombre piece is layered beneath another Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-Bration Brochure - Paper Blooms DSP (155222).  This is a package of 12" x 12" papers, in pretty florals, stripes, and other graphics in these colors:  Night of Navy, Old Olive, Petal Pink, Rococo Rose, Seaside Spray, and Soft Sea Foam.  This DSP is also FREE with a $50 purchase (before tax, shipping).

Materials:

  • DSP:  Oh So Ombre, Rococo Rose solid, layer 5 1/4"x 4";  Paper Blooms DSP5 1/8" x 3" - die cut on one edge using Curvy Dies.
  • Card stock:  Card base, Rococo Rose, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", folded at 4 1/4"; Basic White to stamp the large Rococo Flower; Blushing Bride piece to die-cut the floral layered piece; Night of Navy piece to die-cut the leaves.
  • Stamp set + Dies Bundle:  Pretty Perennials Bundle (156234).
  • Other dies:  Curvy Dies (154319)/
  • Inks:  Night of Navy, Rococo Rose

Steps to create the card:

  • Using the Curvy Dies, cut a curve in the piece of Paper Blooms DSP.
  • Stamp the sentiments using Night of Navy Ink onto the Ombre piece, in the bottom left corner, fitting it so that the curved-cut floral DSP doesn't cover it.  (Place the curvy-cut piece onto the layer to be stamped, WITHOUT GLUING, just to get an idea where to stamp the sentiments.)   I stamp this before adhering it to the card base, just in case I mess up on my stamping (I've learned the hard way that this can happen).
  • Once the stamping is done, glue the Oh So Ombre layer to the card base.  Then glue the curved-cut floral DSP on top of the ombre layer.
  • Create the large floral piece:
    • Using Rococo ink, stamp the large flower image onto white CS, and die cut.
    • Die cut the floral layering piece out of Blushing Bride CS.
    • Die cut the flower center, the solid leaves (2), and the leaves layering pieces (2) out of Night of Navy CS.
    • Glue the flower layer onto the large flower; glue the blue flower center;  glue the leaf layers onto the leaves.
    • Use Dimensionals to adhere the flower and leaves to the card front.

You now have another pretty card!

For this next card I used the Granny Apple Green Ombre as the background.  Then I stamped leaves in 2 colors of green, "stamping off" some of them to create some lighter, some darker, giving depth to the final effect.

Materials:

  • DSP:  Oh So Ombre 4 1/2" x 3 1/2".
  • Card stock:  Garden Green base, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", folded at 4 1/4"; Basic White layer, 4 3/4" x 3 3/4".
  • Stamp set:  Very Versailles.
  • Inks:  Granny Apple Green, Garden Green.

Steps to create this:

  • Glue the Basic White layer to the Garden Green card base.
  • Stamp the leaf branch image from Very Versailles stamp set onto the Oh So Ombre DSP, using Granny Apple Green and Garden Green inks.  Stamp some of these branches fully inked, and some that you have "stamped off" once (or twice, for a vey soft look) onto scrap paper.  This gives a variety of light & dark branches of leaves.
  • Stamp the sentiment using Garden Green.
  • Glue this imaged, ombre piece to the card front.

All done!

Now the final selection in the Oh So Ombre DSP.

I used the Blackberry Bliss selection, and tried experimenting with some techniques.  Could I color with the Stampin' Blends directly onto this Ombre paper?  Would it show up on this darker background?  I'm going to share this experiment with you, and my thought process as I created this card.

The stamp set I used:  Wrapped Bouquet.  It has become one of my very favorites!  There are coordinating dies for the set, too (although not used this time).  The Wrapped Bundle item is 156217.  The sentiment is from the Seaside Notions (the set I used for the seahorse card, earlier in the blog...still with me?)

Steps to create:

  • Card base:  Blackberry Bliss card stock, 11" x 4 1/2", fold at 5 1/2".
  • Ombre DSP, Blackberry Bliss:  4 1/8" x 3 1/4"
  • I stamped the wrapped bouquet image and the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink directly onto the Ombre paper.
  • I colored in the flowers with Stampin' Blends - first with Light Mango Melody (154888), then shaded areas with Light Melon Mambo (153112).  I kept with the lights because I thought they would show up better on the darker background.
  • This card could be finished at this point, just adhere the image piece to the Blackberry Bliss card base.

Let's step it up a bit:

I wanted the flowers to pop a bit brighter.  Hmmm, how to do that?  Answer: I embossed with clear embossing powder.  To do this:  using a Versamarker Pen, "color" over just the flowers, sprinkle Stampin' Up! Clear Emboss Powder (109130), and heat emboss with the Heat Tool (129053).

Showing the shine from the clear embossing

Once again, I could stop at this point, but I decided to add a couple more layers to the card:

  • I had yet to open & use the Love You Always Foil Sheets (154286), and today was the day!  Beautiful foil sheets in 3 colors:  Blushing Bride, Rococo Rose, and Sahara Sand.  I went with the Rococo for a border to my wrapped bouquet.  Foil dimensions:  4 3/8" x 3 1/2".
  • I also added another layer of the Ombre DSP, the the other selection of Blackberry Bliss with the white circles.  This layer is 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".
Showing the embossed flowers and additional DSP layers

  • Assemble:
    • Glue the ombre layer (with the white circles) to the Blackberry Bliss CS base.
    • Glue the foil behind the image piece; then glue all to the front of the card.
    • Add a rhinestone or other embellishment to continue the sparkle theme.

Here is the final card:

Till next time, keep crafting!

Stay safe, be well, take care...Julie.
