Life is Beautiful, Harvest Moon

I love the stamp set Life is Beautiful!  I've been enjoying making several cards with it.  Here is one today.  We just had the first day of autumn, and can't wait to see a huge harvest moon!  That idea was my inspiration for this card.

Products that I used:

  • Life is Beautiful stamp set (154871)

  • Dies:
    • Autumn Wheelbarrow dies (fence) (153568)
    • Freezin' Friends (slope/hill) (153561)
    • Gathered Leaves dies (150662)
    • Layering Circles dies (151770)

  • Cardstock:

      • whisper white card base, 4 1/4" x 11", fold at 5 1/2"
      • whisper white to stamp on, 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
      • night of navy - die cut for the hill
      • black - die cut the fence
      • pumpkin pie - die cut the leaf
      • whisper white scrap for the sentiment
Inks:  Tuxedo black memento (132708), pumpkin pie (147086), night of navy (147110).
Other:  sponges (141337), Sequins for Everything (153556), Stamparatus (146276), Cut & Emboss Machine (149653)

Steps to create this card:
Cut & score card base; cut piece to be stamped (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").  Set the base aside for now.  The other piece will be where the stamping happens.

Create 2 masks:   cut ANOTHER piece 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and cut out a circle where you want the moon.

Place the circle onto the piece to be stamped.  Holding it down, sponge Night of Navy ink around it, darker towards the edge, and lighter as you get next to the circle (moon).
Remove circle.

Now, using the piece with the circle gone, place over the card and sponge with Pumpkin Pie.

Die cut out the slope in Night of Navy Card Stock using the hill die from Freezin' Friends.  Glue this onto card front, lining up edges.

Using the Stamparatus, so that you can get a nice dark tree image (by re-stamping a few times), stamp tree in black.  (Where the seam of the hill is, you will need to fill in with a black Sharpie or Stamp & Write black pen.  But it's not really going to show, since the fence will cover it, so don't worry.)

Die cut the fence and leaf.  Stamp sentiment (from the same Life is Beautiful set), and trim as a banner.

Putting it all together:
Glue fence and leaf onto card.  Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the "hello" on top of the leaf; add sequin(s) as you like.  You could alternatively glue the sentiment piece down first, and adhere the leave on top.  I did both versions for you to see here.   Then adhere the entire piece onto your card base.   All done!

What do you think?  I would love to hear your comments, so let me know how you liked this.  If I can help in any of your projects, or if you have questions, let me know that, too.

I hope you found some inspiration here.
Also, the masking and sponging technique are fun to do.  Try it, won't you?!

Freezin' Fun!

Can't wait for some cool temps?  Here's a card to get in the mood. I CASEd this from another Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, Amy Koenders.  I think these images are just so cute!

Stamps & dies: Freezin' Fun and Freezin' Friends Dies - get the bundle from the August-December 2020 Mini Catalog. Item #155176. Also dies from stitched rectangles (Annual Catalog, #151820)

Background: Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper (153491), also from the Mini Catalog.

Cardstock:  Pool Party (card base 11" x 4 1/4", fold at 5 1/2"), whisper white, 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" and die cut for the slopes; scraps of white to stamp the 3 trees, bunny, penguin, and snow board; another scrap for the sentiment (die cut with stitched rectangles).

Stampin' Blends to color the images: Shaded spruce, crumb cake, real red, gray granite, petal pink, mango melody.

Other:  Snowflake Adhesive-backed Embellishments (153545) - in the Mini Catalog.  Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755), Standard Cut & Emboss Machine (149653).

Cut the DSP so that you have the mountains as a background, 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".   Adhere to the Pool Party card base (11" x 4 1/4", folded at 5 1/2").

From the white card stock (5 1/2" x 4 1/4"), use the curved die in Freezin' Friends Dies to cut 2 slopes.  Glue the slopes, overlapping, bottom edges flush to card base bottom edge.  LEAVE A SMALL AREA (~1/2") ON THE TOP-MOST SLOPE UNGLUED, so that the small tree can be layered under it (see picture of card).

Stamp images onto white CS using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (132708).   Die cut the images using coordinating dies from Freezin' Friends.   The magnetic plate for the new Standard Cut & Emboss Machine makes the cutting super easy.  The metal dies stay in place when this plate is used. Magnetic Plate is now available, item #149656.

Color in the images:

Shaded spruce for the trees, the penguin's scarf, and the pom-pom on his hat.

Read Red:  bunny's scarf, and penguin's hat.

Petal Pink:  bunny's ears, nose, tummy

Gray Granite: Penguin

Crumb Cake: skis and snow board

Mango Melody(oops! not shown in picture above):  Penguin's feet, beak (see below).

Adhere the trees & the characters - I used the Multipurpose glue, but mini glue dots (103683) would also work well.  Tuck one of the trees behind the top slope.

Stamp sentiment in Shaded Spruce, some snow flakes in Pool Party; die cut; adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430).  Randomly stick some of the snowflake embellishments.

INSIDE card:   I used a strip of the DSP, glued to a piece of Whisper White CS 3 1/2" x 4 1/4", stamped a sentiment in Real Red ink, and some snow flakes in Pool Party.

There you have it!  What do you think?  Is this a card you might be making?  It would also be fun to have the kids help make.

I hope you found some inspiration for a card of your own.  Want to purchase the items to make this?  Click on any of the item links to see items in my online store.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for looking today! Take care,   Julie

Fall is in the air...

 CELEBRATING FALL!!

Today I'm showing a few fall cards.   I love the fall colors, don't you?  Here is the first card, outside & also the inside of the card:

The Stamp Sets & Dies I used are:

Life is Beautiful (154871) and Autumn Goodness (153454), Autumn Wheelbarrow Dies (153568), OR THE BUNDLE - save 10% - Autumn Goodness BUNDLE (155194).  These can be found in the Aug-Dec 2020 Mini Catalog.

Cardstock and measurements:

Base:  Bumblebee, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored/folded at 4 1/4"

Layer:  Early Espresso, 3 3/4" x 5 1/2"

Stamped piece:  Whisper White, 3 1/2" x 5 1/2"

Fence - die cut out of a scrap of Crumb Cake card stock.  Wheelbarrow and wheel: Early Espresso.

Inks:  Bumblebee, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Early Espresso.

Let's make this card!

Stamp the tree image in Early Espresso ink.  Stamp leaves in all the fall colors, some on the ground under the tree.  Stamp the sentiment from Life is Beautiful set in espresso.

Adhere the espresso cardstock to the bumblebee base (I used the Mulitipurpose Liquid glue).  Then adhere the stamped image piece.

Add the fence on top of all layers (the die cut is exactly as wide as the card base!)

INSIDE:

Die cut the wheelbarrow & wheel from Autumn Wheelbarrow Dies out of Early Espresso CS.  On a whisper white CS 3 3/4" x 5", stamp more leaves in any colors you choose, stamping some leaves that will be "behind/inside" the wheelbarrow - you can determine the location by placing (no yet glueing) the wheelbarrow where you want it, then stamp leaves behind. Stamp sentiment from Autumn Goodness set.  Adhere this to inside of card.   Finally, glue the wheelbarrow to inside of card.

Wasn't that fun?!

****************************************************************

I love wreaths, all year round, not just at Christmas time.  So for this card, I created a fall, or Thanksgiving wreath card.  The stamp set, from the Annual Catalog, is, appropriately, ARRANGE A WREATH (152587), WREATH BUILDER DIES (152722) - or the best deal, a bundle:  Arrange a Wreath Bundle (154109).  Use this set and coordinating dies to create some beautiful wreaths for any season or time of year.

Card base:  Bumblebee 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", folded 4 1/4".  Layer of DSP from Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP (153520) 4" x 5 1/4".  Layer of Early Espresso CS 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"

Die cut the wreath of leaves in Old Olive card stock; die cut the other wreath in Pumpkin Pie.
I also used leaves and acorn punched out using the Autumn Punch Pack (153609) from the Aug-Dec 2020 Mini.  Also available in the Beautiful Autumn Bundle (155189).  Punch out leaves (oak leaf, maple leaf) in Real Red CS.  Punch acorns in espresso.  Die cut smallest flower in Bumblebee.

Glue wreaths to the DSP, and glue the leaves, acorns, and little flowers to the wreath.
Stamp sentiment in lower right corner in espresso ink.
Cut a piece of Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon (153658) and glue across the bottom of the DSP.

Now glue the DSP to the Espresso layer, and then glue all onto the card base.

*******************************************************

One final card, using the Life Is Beautiful stamp set (154871).  The runner is from the set Do the Impossible (retired).  The sentiment is from Sending Sunshine (152592).

Card Base:  Old Olive 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", fold at 4 1/4"
Layer:  Plaid Tidings 6"x6" DSP (153527) from Aug-Dec Mini catalog:  cut 4 1/8" x 5 3/8".
Very Vanilla for stamping images and sentiment.  Sentiment is die cut with Stitched Rectangles dies (151820).
DSP on the envelope is cut with the Envelope Dies (153531) in the Mini Catalog.  Available also in a bundle:  Ornamental Envelopes Bundle (155168).

I hope these cards provide some ideas & inspirations to get you started on making some fall projects.
If I can help in any way, please let me know.

Retired from Stampin' Up!®

Hello readers, Please note:  I have retired from Stampin' Up!® - I am no longer an Independent Demonstrator.  It's been a great run...
